A persistent-world shooter from the makers of EVE.

This.  Looks.  Awesome.  I have so much hope for this game.  This looks like it could be what other games have tried to be, but failed.
This title is exclusive to the PS3.

Edit: For now. http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/06/08/e3-201...3-release/
meh, i lost interest in the game after i stopped playing eve. although i had hopes of the game being multiconsole, apparently that's not going to happen now.

Have you ever played EVE?

Like, really played it?

This game is going to go down the shitter simply because it's even remotely tied to New Eden. It will be trolled to death and because it's not a sandbox like EVE, it cannot survive.
I'll maybe play it if it ever comes out on peeeeceeeeee. Or if the PS3 version supports M+KB (seriously is UT the only game that does?)
Boing.

Yup! Not even the MMO on PS3 supports mouse and keyboard.
I'm going to plan on buying this right up until they beat it with a nerf bat to make it 'approachable' for the average console consumer. This is in spite of the fact that part of what makes EVE so popular is it's rich and complex gaming environment (talking both content and controls here).

Then I'll rage about how much of a sellout CCP is until at least four BRBu-ers play it and say it's good.

Then I'll buy it, and those people will promptly stop playing. Probably before I manage to get a game in with them.

Then I'll rage about how much you prepurchasing kids with no jobs that play video games all day should get off my fucking lawn.

Just wanted to get my whole prediction down somewhere I can find it again.

This pretty much breaks my heart.  Posted this in the PC section for a reason...  :'(

I admit that I was never hardcore into EVE, only playing for a couple months.  Sure, there has to be an epic troll-alert on this game, but I'm not willing to cast it off until I've seen something playable.  Hopefully the devs can improve upon what they've learned from EVE.  There's a lot to be hoped for in the execution, but am impressed with the concept so far.

This is CCP we're talking about, right?

The trailer made it clear that the economics would drive the game, and that much of what you do would have implications across both games. Obviously there won't be infinite respawns or time limits or anything like that, just an objective and how much players can bankroll to make sure that objective happens.

I'm more concerned over an earlier interview which mentioned that fights would be instanced instead of open world like we come to love in PS. Which is stupid, given how EVE works. It is Everyone Vs Everyone, so anyone who's anyone should be able to drop in to a war and try to swoop the battle.

rumsfald

looks like section 8, visually.
Loving this idea of two different game types playing in the same world. Thinkin of trying out EVE when I get internet back. Anyone here try it? Is it any good?
