Be Right Back, Uninstalling

I've had 2 BSODs since installing my new Vertex 3. I'm 90% sure it has to do with the controller. For whatever reason windows has the harddrive listed as something I can safely remove. This last time I got a BSOD I heard the device removal sound first, so I know it has something to do with that. Anyone have any ideas what is going on and how I can fix it?

I'm very amused by the concern over how the failures 'count' insofar as MTBF dates are concerned. MTBF is all black magic and honor system anyways, so if they determine that it's a firmware glitch (most likely explanation) or a quality control error (second most likely explanation) they wouldn't effect MTBF figures even if they 'counted' as unit failures.

Most likely the only numbers they'd have to revise is the version number of the firmware (in one case) or the failure threshold and corresponding yield calculations internally to their production system (in the other).

Consumer panic amongst early-adopters completely ignorant of manufacturing process is so silly. OCZ's in PR damage control mode, most of the numbers coming out of them related to the problem are going to be meaningless until they determine the root cause and fix it, in which case they won't have to update any of their previous numbers (like the '<1% of users' estimate) because noone will give two shits any more.
I changed the mode over to IDE, I had it on AHCI because it was recommended for performance. It's no longer listed as hardware that can be safely removed, so that is already a plus.

Except you lose all of the benefits of SATA's speed (and features like NCQ) when running in IDE emulation.

I put in a ticket, maybe they will replace it or something. In the meantime I just want to see if it makes a difference.
Just wait for the firmware update.
