I'm not liking it so far, the fact some games are 'origin exclusive.' Just seems to me like another piece of crap software you need just to play a game.

Don't buy stuff off it then?

EA stop trying to be steam

They tried it once before back when Spore launched. It fell flat on its face. Guess the guys at EA think "Failed Plan + New Paint = Overthrower of Best Plan"
Well, I switched to it when Bioware got hacked. Blah blah blah later, and I stop using it.
While I like the idea of a competitor to Steam, EA is my last choice  to be that competitor.

there are lots of competitors..they just aren't as good.
I like that I can register all my Steam EA games on it. That's kind of cool. That's about it though. And I better not have to buy Mass Effect 3 off of the thing.
only have it because me dlc

But this time they're gonna have shit like BF3 backing it instead of Spore. I could see that giving it some traction tbh
I don't hate Origin, just find it abit annoying, with friends and other games already on Steam.  Only thing I'll probably be getting on it is like Battlefield 3...so I basically have one game for an entire program, at least for awhile lol
They announced that BF3 will have no mods, no dev kits, and no customization outside of what EA puts in themselves.

Whelp, there goes my excitement for the game  :-\
Not really that surprising after Bad Company 2.

Sadly a result of them using a bajillion middleware technologies to make the game instead of liscensing an engine or making one 100% thesmelves. Apparently to compile a map it takes weeks worth of work before its even playable in-game and you need to have direct access to source code to do it.

So it's mostly because the way they made the game makes it impossible to mod/map without giving out the full source code and usage rights to all the middleware they use. Which obviously is major lawsuit material against them from the middleware companies.
