Full Version: Bloodline Champions - Putting the Action in Action RTS, but taking out the RTS

Bloodline Champions recently came out with a new patch and a Steam release.
And no one on my friends list has played it.
That needs to be rectified.

So what is Bloodline Champions?
Bloodline Champions (BLC) is a team arena game where players each pick a character and work together on a central objective. Some would call it a MOBA, but some other game already took that monkier and made a much less accurate use of it. For those coming from said certain game, think of it as being in an ACTUAL arena with damn near everything as a skillshot (heals included) and only personal vision as opposed to shared map vision.

Why would I play this over, say, League of Legends?
BLC is much more action oriented than League is. Games last in the span of 5-15 minutes as opposed to 45-75. In addition, there is no in-game progression (though there is an overall progression metagame, more on that in a bit), so players don't get overwhelmingly powerful and steamroll the team because of a good farm. Everything is entirely based on personal skill, with no random numbers or effects. The game feels more like a fighting game or a FPS than a Dotalike, even though it has some of the same traits.

Oh, and you can't get raged at much midgame. That's always a plus.

So what's this about a new patch then?
Because of the popularity of overall player progression, BLC implemented a similar system recently, adding the dreaded skill tree and a system to add additional skills to your champ. Really, it's not too dramatic, as you can unlock all three medallion slots in the course of 3-4 days of play (given the Steam XP boost), and the game is so bent on aim, juking, control, and positioning that a few numbers won't change too much.

The gems are still bullshit though.

And now here's the time where I hijack a much better thread at explaining this game.

And now here's the part where I whore myself out for e-points. REGISTER AN ACCOUNT UNDER ME AND YOU GET BONUS STUFF TOO.

If you give the game a shot before November 14th, you get a free weapon (cosmetic stuff) for a champ and the XP boost I mentioned earlier. Free players have to deal with a rotation system, and the Bloodlines are expensive (and evenly priced), but you can unlock one of a set for free by doing some easy intro stuff.
Tried this game a while back with Zane, haven't seen either of us play it again. But hey it's free so I'm willing to give it another shot  Tongue
yeah it was fun but it was kinda stupid how ridiculously expensive is.
People need to play.
This game.
With me.
I got in the beta, downloaded the installer, and then got blocked from my university wifi because it downloads patches by torrenting.  That pretty much killed my interest in the game.

So that's why you haven't been on Steam, right? Because it uses P2P distribution instead of big honking data centers?

Steam doesn't trigger the internet block, probably because it's been added to an exception list somewhere.
