The Smithsonian American Art Museum is hosting an exhibit on the 40 year history of Video Games.

This seems like it might be a good time to have a museum-related meetup (s), peruse the exhibit, stroke one's chin hairs knowingly, and share each other's reactions to the display.

People who have expressed interest:
rumsfald (rolling in by train, preferably after April)
Sogo Payne (interested July/August)
ZargonX (???)
at0m (lives in Bmore, available whenever his employer hasn't sent him away)
StolenToast (lives an like an hour away)
Surf314 (+ wifey on 7/15)

Please reply if you're interested, when you'd be interested in going, and (if you want to) where you're coming from so we can maybe coordinate carpoolage?

I would arrive by train.

March and April look very busy for me, so unlikely I would be free soonish.

I think this would be particularly fun to see with Zargon and at0m, as afterwards we could discuss the exhibits over brews. And, both have (in my opinion) very strong and wide-ranging opinions on games. Of course, there are other BRBuers to whom my admiration also extends, but those cunts don't live close enough to this point for me to vocalize my fantasies about them.

I may or may not bring accompaniment of the female persuasion. I see this exhibit as a pretty moving validation of an important part of my life, and that's a level of sappyness that I might want to share.
I was debating the same, re: female accompanyment, but that was going to depend on the crowd, and timing.
WAIT WHOA...

I've got an aunt on DC, i could go there while i visit my family on Florida (after traveling a while) D: .

I'm going on July. We could organize some kind of meet up
April and May are probably bad for me, but June - August should be mostly clear! It's just a short drive for me, so no worries.
Honestly it would be safe to assume I will not be participating =\
I live in Arlington (about five miles from DC) and would love to join you guys. I'm usually pretty flexible schedule-wise so long as it's not during ACEN.
So many of us are also attending ACEN (including myself) so I wasn't going to try to plan it for then. It'll probably be a weekend in June or July, those seem to be the popular months thus far.
June or July works for me, there are a few weeks where I will be out of town. I work 3 blocks from the museum
I am trying to get a job in DC, if I get it I am definitely in.
Surf wants to do it in two weeksish, on Sunday 7/15, because that's when his wife will be in town with him. I approve. Any other takers?

Re: significant others, my girlfriend's got plans that Saturday (I'll come alone if I have to, doesn't bother me), but Sunday's good for the two of us.

I think I'll be busy the 14th, but the 15th should work for me.
D'oh! Sunday might be bad for me because that is when my wife is leaving to go home (I think her plane leaves about 1ish). If we can do it Saturday then I'd have no time or airport pressure.
You said the 15th in your STEAM message, got my GF all excited Tongue But I'm available the 14th as well, personally.

unfortunately, my presence is required at a family function this weekend.
I've confirmed that I can only do Sunday this weekend. Saturday is a no-go for me.
So far for Saturday it looks like its just me that can come, then?
