◀ArmA 2 - DayZ Mod, First Impressions

IMPORTANT: Needs arrowhead dlc too, there is a bundle that has both for $29 (so be careful not to buy the game for $20 and then be stuck upgrading for +$20)

Anyone tried this yet, seems very promising. And it has permadeath!!!

Would be cool to have a nice sized wrecking crew.

Requirements:
ArmA II: CO (this is the combined operations pack which is made up of ARMA II, ARMA II: Operation Arrowhead)
DayZ Mod Files (Available on the downloads page http://www.dayzmod.com/downloads.php)
   Balls

I have ArmA2 but it's not installed. Color me intrigued.
I would play this
do you have to have autism to play this mod, like regular arma 2?
While ARMA2 never seemed interesting, this mod does, other than the stupid zombie running that makes them look like they have a speed hack on lol
updated OP with important info

bumping to make sure everyone gets the memo

this looks awesome
Not sure I'd put down nearly 30 bucks just to play a mod...in Alpha...but the idea is very cool for sure.

actually
I'll consider this game when I get back at the end of next month and maybe more for a Beta release.  The speed zombie I saw kinda makes it seem like they got some more work to do before I slap down 30 bucks for just a mod.
same thing as maxon i want to try this mod and it looks good enough but im gonna wait hopefully this summer steam will set arma 2 down for super cheap with the dlc.
Or maybe buy it for super cheap when arma 3 comes out
I think we've got around 4 people so far, so that will give us a chance to try it out as a group and report back how much it sucks.

I'l be installing this later today to check it out. I've had my parents in town this weekend.

I'd like to wait until Arma 2 is on sale. I am probably only going to end up buying this for the mod.
Played very briefly today, just to get setup.

Here is what I've seen so far.

Pros:
-nighttime is fucking scary, i can barely see the ground under my feet at high brightness with the lights in the room off.
-graphics seem decent
-world seems fairly huge, with lots of exploring, forests actually have tons of trees, etc.
-lots of people on to pvp

Cons
-takes up to 15 minutes to connect the first time while it makes your character (luckily this is just the first time, and any time you die)
-slow to connect in general and hard to find servers with slots
Got Rilnac into this, so I get the credit.

Played it for reals for the first time last night, and jesus christ it's a lot harder when it's night time. Also don't drop flares unless you want every player within a mile radius to hunt you down.

We need to get a group of Banditos together to roam with.

Here's the idea I had:

We gather up a small cache of supplies (food, ammo, etc) and drop it in a vulnerable position (a crossroads or forest clearing or something). Then we wait for someone to find said cache, then when they stop to pick the supplies up, we kill them and take their supplies.

I don't know if this a viable strategy or if it's even possible with the game mechanics but if it is, it'd be stupidly fun to poach pubbies.

you just announce in chat that there is a GPS (because you don't even get a map to start or a compass) at whatever landmark. Then watch the bums rush and rain down death upon them.
