The Elder Scrolls Online - Why...

This sums up my current feelings on it right now however the game is yet to come out so I thought I might as well make a thread for it.


Let us discuss.

Never played any of the Elder Scrolls Games, but it's usually a bad idea to change a series into an MMO.

As long as this is just an inbetween thing and it's not like Bioware, who isn't gonna do another KOTOR game cause of the MMO, it's whatever.  It sounds really bad right now with just the basics they are talking about, making it sound nothing like an Elder Scrolls game in anyway other than in name and setting alone.  Also if it's a subscription based game, I'm not even gonna consider it.  They just aren't an option for me anymore.

Noticing that this is coming out really near ES:V i'm assuming they're just milking the engine to grab a little more money, just what happened with Final Fantasy XIV. This doesn't mean they won't release a full new Elder Scrolls game, specially looking at how good Skyrim did.

I don't wanna mention what happened with the old republic but...

Its been a downhill slide since Morrowind, have fun with that (Skyrim was a slight bump in the right direction)

Except they're using the Old Republic engine, so they don't even have that excuse.

Doesn't sound too good IMO. They took the Plot from Oblivion, removed the emperor dying, swapped Mehrunes Dagon out for Molag Bal, and made it faction based.

Only good part is that the team making it is entirely separate from anyone working on whatever they're planning for Fallout 4 and Skyrim DLCs and such.

Too bad it won't be as good as Tera.
