so ive found this forum searching for parts for a costume but  im also looking for other things and you guys might be able to school me hahaha

any who~  im addicted to Battle field 2 but not regular bf2  but the mod  project reality. sadly ive moved and had to get rid of my old pc * which was barely running it*  now im on a asus with i3 and a pos integrated Gcard.

due to living expenses and other bills; i pay for the cable.. its at this chicks house...ya know what never mind

im looking for some cheap starter builds for my new computer

basically im looking for all of what i need to have a functioning pc i can build up and will keep up with the new stuff in the next 2 years

id like
i7 on the mother board
ability to use my flat screen with good graphics + regular monitor
enough hdd to run my game, and maybe 4 other small applications
i know F***all about how ram works into the speed n such so  school me there
power source that will be able to run everything
cd/dvdr drive

anything else that would be needed
im trying to go as cheap as possible with it still keeping above specs and ability to run game with little to know machine caused lag or fps drop

i live by the beach and my window is always open so that factors in
i have hs enet and only 1 person using it

any "this is what id do" replys help
especially links

cheers ;D

1) Intro thread please.  :-*

2) Budget

3) Fix your window issue. Windows and natural lighting are known to cause drops in FPS. Close the window and pull the blinds. You might even be tempted to go outside.
Cheap builds =/= power. Give us a rough estimate of what you're looking for.

Also, if you're trying to save money, knock down the i7 to an i5. i7 is overkill for gaming.
i5 it is, window  un-doable i hear the ocean and get a breeze  since theres no ac in this building  its  drop the fps i want fresh air hahaha

my intro didnt post so i said eff it but ill redo it in afew

budget is dirt cheap... there could be oil or gold in the dirt but  im not above  taking 2 2x4s and cutting them into a rack to mount my S*** into

idk maybe 600ish  ( ive already got mice keyboards and screens )

id like to go as cheap as possible if i can do under 400  im not above buying 2nd hand off you guys or other forums

Current generation i7's are $300+, so fitting the whole build under $400 while including one probably isn't going to happen. There are a couple of other threads from people who are upgrading their rigs (just buying GPUs, or CPU/motherboard, or GPU/cpu/motherboard). If you already have a case, that's probably the cheapest way to upgrade. Building a case out of 2x4's sounds like something from Afrotech, and is generally not recommended.

Who are you and where do you come from?

Would be nice to know since usually people don't pop into random internet forums to ask for PC advice Wink

It is a nice change of pace from the traditional join for minez crew though.

check out this article for gaming on a ($650) budget

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/buil...,3159.html

they explain most of the reasoning behind their selections. any terminology you dont understand we could help with, or you could help yourself with wikipedia

im only suggesting this as a reference for what a budget PC could be. the nice thing about building your own is the flexibility that it provides.

edit: comments say the video card they're suggesting is no longer available. could replace with a 7850 for a lateral sidegrade (oxy-moron?).
