New free to play game on steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/209870/

It is an objective based team fps, with about 7 game modes and a nice handful of starter maps. The gameplay is very fast paced, and everything is refreshingly brutal. I have put in about 20 hours in the last 2 weeks.

It uses the perfectworld zen currency (same as startrekonline), as well as in game currency (gp) which is earned per match. You get random loot (helmets, boots, armor, sights, muzzles, barrel, clips, stocks, ammo, etc) just for leveling up with either 1-3 day duration, which you can buy permanent versions of for either zen or gp. The only exception is guns which you must use GP for. Correction on the guns: there are 2 types of guns in the market, the base weapon that you can add stuff to and premade guns that come with everything permanently attached, the base gun you can get permanent for GP but the premades are zen only.

I've already got litrecola, hek and a few other people hooked.

I'd like to put a clan together for this, it's $10 to make one. (I'm open to name suggestions)

Here is a quick review:
Blacklight: Retribution - Video Review

P.S.: There is also a $20 starter pack on steam ($10 for the next week or so) which gives you some permanent items and 3000gp (not at all required but convenient).
It's basically F2P CoD with built in wallhacks, which is pretty cool. Problem is, just like with CoD, I got bored of it pretty fast. Still a good game for people who like those kinda shooters though.
Yeah same for me, I got bored pretty quick and the built in wall hack shit annoyed the hell out of me.  If it probably didn't have that one feature, I might possibly have stuck around with it longer.  Not a bad game though, especially for a F2P shooter, since the premade guns you can rent are pretty cheap to get.
Ugh, I absolutely hate games where you have to rent equipment.  Also with my new mouse I got a code for a free permanent airstrike weapon and a 30 day shotgun if anyone wants it.
is the starter kit worth it?

TLDR: Sorta

1-6 detailed below
7-8 having extra grenades is awesome
9 3000gp buys you not much, head armor is like 4500, chest is like 7000, guns are like 5500 (you earn about 200 points a win and 150 a loss, games never take more than 10 minutes)
10 bonus xp is always nice

It is a decent smg, but the spread is a little wide and the range could be better, you can see the green/red of how it compares to the one i am using (which is just a base smg you get for free with a bunch of mods)

nice damage over time pistol with rapid burst, not using it currently because i rented a premade gun to try out, but in reality this one has better stats than the rental

decent scope, creates a slight view obstruction, I am using the Krane EX9 Holo which I bought with GP because it doesn't block my view

nice barrel for range and accuracy, minimal damage loss and actually less run loss than my current one, but no good until level 23

one of the better helmets in game, BUT you can't equip until level 19 (and you can probably farm the 4500easily by then)

good chest, extra gear slots, helps you not get dead
alternatives via the in game market:

you need to charge zen for these, which is one cent per zen.

So this is $15, you get the HAR which is one of the few guns you can't buy with GP (normally 750zen for just this gun), I am tempted to get this pack myself.

This one is $10, the SMG you can just buy for 5500gp, haven't done the number crunch on the rest of the stuff.

Also worth noting, the stuff you buy directly for zen has the level restrictions removed, the exception seems to be if its in a pack, I'm not sure if that is just because I got it through steam, or if these packs also have level restrictions, as an example the armor in the first pack requires level 25, so buying it through the bundle might or may not override that.
The fuck is up with those helmets?

2 hours of play time into it. level 4

and the random unlock things they send you via mail?? why??

took me about 15 minutes to figure out how the fuck to customize the weapon. there's a lot of clutter in the menus, so much going on at once, hard to focus on anything, etc

gameplaywise, I did best with the default stuff they gave me. submachine guns seem broke as hell. hit detect isn't that great. and invisibility is dumb. i used the V key 'wallhacks' for a while, and the way they do it isn't completely broken, but i forgot about using it the last hour i played. i'm lazy

tl;dr first impression a solid f2p shooter likes of call of duty with similar game mechanics and hit detection. customization is nice but seems tedious and needlessly cluttered, much like the menus.

hey it'll probably get more playtime than tribes, at least
I have two codes, each redeems an A36 Brimstone Airstrike, metalic black weapon camo, and shotgun secondary. Not going to use them. Anybody want?
