I'm installing it now. Who else has got it for the PC?
(Skill Level: I struggle with Guitar Hero on Expert nowadays but I swear it's the HD TV and these wireless controllers, and still can't play one complete song on a real guitar.)
It looked kinda interesting to me but I'm not sure how much it would have to offer an intermediate level player. That and I didn't want to go pick up that special cable you need.
alright, day 1, I have to stop for now, and I'll start playing again when I'm not so aware of my fingertips.
I'm really good at being terrible at this game

in first world country, special cable flies to you to ask you to pick it up
Been playing it on 360 since it launched.  I really like it as a lowbie guitar player.  Learned how to play songs abit better, though haven't stuck with it to see alot of improvement in my skills, though it is helpful for learning the songs.

Looks like a great program for new or beginner level guitar players. It's a shame it doesn't teach any music theory though Sad
Yeah, it's about on par with moving tablature notes.  I've gotten to my first six-string chords, about to ding level 4, and looking up tab notes on my phone now. Broken blister on my left index finger; that'll make a nice callus.
In a bid to make the real world more like video games, DR Strings has a new set of strings that will make the guitar look like the Rocksmith guitar. Low E = Red, A = Yellow, D = Blue, G = Orange, B = Green, and High E = Purple.

some people consider it an art movement that's already been named the new aesthetic.

It's amazing how the hivemind of the internet, and capitalism, can connect to me as an individual and allow me to learn things at a faster, more customized pace than ever before.
i still need to buy a new guitar since my old one shit the bed and costs nearly as much to fix it as i paid for it
Go to craigslist, musical instruments for sale, search for guitar, price maximum $150. You'll find something that works well enough to practice on.
what broke, can you fix it?

Pretty much all the electrical stuff is ruined, and there's some damage to the pickup and the neck is damaged. and this is all thanks to my friend who stored it improperly who needless to say I'm not friends with anymore. (Albeit that's for reasons having nothing to do with him ruining my guitar.)
All you need to replace pickups and pots is a screwdriver, a hex, some basic soldering skill, and some time and patience to look things up on the internet. If you pay attention to what you unscrew / unsolder, it's very straightforward.

The neck may differ depending on whether it's just warped or whether there is heavy damage to the frets and fingerboard. Still, if it's a bolt-on, you can get replacement necks.

Depending on what you started with, it may or may not be worth it to replace those parts. Otherwise, I got a 99$ LP junior on amazon that I loved for 5 years. (I just replaced the humbucker and put in a kahler tuner just because.)

It's on sale today and I might get it.  Only question is, do i really have to pay $30+ for the cable?  Can I rig something with the materials I have or get it cheaper elsewhere?  I already have several guitars and a lot of guitar equipment.
It's possible if you already have a guitar-to-USB interface. If not, buy the real tone cable on Amazon, it's cheap and noisey $30 cable that lets it detect notes.

Also here's your answer alll the way back from the first page of this thread.

One thing I noticed is that it had trouble detecting chords. I realized I still had volume and tone knobs set for play through the amp. Turning the tone all the way up helped, and selecting the bridge pickup helped as well.

Next paycheck I'm buying those neon strings. One set for the Schecter and one set for the Rockenstein build.

How's the no-cable thing working for you, StolenToast?
I got this game when it was on Steam sale too. I ordered the cable off of Amazon. Even at ~$30 with the $7 or so for the game on Steam, that's still better than the console bundle which ranges from $50 - $60. I've had a bass for years now and I inherited a well used electric guitar from an old roommate, so I have the needed hardware. This seems like a cool way to get me to practice more. I was even motivated to go out and get new strings for the guitar since the previous ones were all rusted and crusty. It sounds much better now.
