A few days ago my computer started doing this. I'll try to wake it, the computer will come on, but the screen will either remain blank (with or without mouse cursor) or not get a signal at all. I've had to restart it each time.

I updated my drivers recently, but I'm not sure what else exactly it could be.

Specs:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Radeon HD 5870
8GB DDR3
Intel i5 750 @ 2.66ghz
Don't use sleep mode. Done.

Seriously, sleep mode causes all sorts of oddball problems.
If you really, really need sleep mode, try walking through this guide: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/63567-...blems.html

What problems, out of curiosity? It's always worked for me.

And if not sleep mode, what do you suggest using? My computer boot time is slow as shit.
leave it on, moran

alternatively an SSD
Various (tho now less common) apps don't like to suspend, or see the system clock suddenly change.
Poorly designed hardware (see high end music and video) takes a shit with ACPI.

And yes, leave it on.
