Nintendo 2DS - Introduction

Reminds me of the PSP GO
It might not be a bad move actually...I dont like that it doesnt have a clamshell

However, its _much_ cheaper than the 3DS, and its being launched packaged with X/Y. So basically its, 'here's a pokemon playing device if you dont have enough money to afford a 3DS'

Truth be told, I usually turn the 3D slider off on the 3DS and generally don't give a fuck about things being in 3D. That being said, if I didn't already have a 3DS, I'd probably get it.
I don't think it's a horrible idea either. I'm not a big fan of the design, but this version seems to be aimed at parents with young kids. Less moving parts, cheaper, and no 3D seem to address the complaint a lot of parents had with the original 3DS. Marketing is going to be a bitch though. As for me, I enjoy the 3D effect when done right and I love the bigger screens of the 3DS XL so I'll stick with what I have. More options for consumers is never a bad thing.
To be fair, this isn't marketed to us. This is a way for parents to buy their kids a 3DS and Pokemon for Christmas for less than $200.

it's being packaged with X/Y?

either way this is a pricepoint where i'd seriously consider getting it
there'll probably be a bundle where it comes with x/y preloaded on the sd card
what i dont get is why they didnt add a second control stick (or whatever its called) for the second fucking time

what they saw was "oh look, people buy tablets for games and stuff. lets make a handheld console look like a tablet for a considerably lower price."
You generally don't add features on a value/entry level version. It would deviate too much from the features of the core model. I also read somewhere that I can't recall at the moment that the screens are actually a single large sceen in this version and the bottom screen is just masked so it matches the same aspect ratio as the original 3DS.

Im sure when someone gets a hands on model they'll break it down and we'll find out. That actually would not surprise me though, probably a lot cheaper to make one large scree and cover parts like that than to make two

because a second control stick isn't fucking necessary. there are like 5 games that support the circle pad pro in the first place. they'll introduce one in the successor to the 3ds, not in a 3ds revision

Heh, and the only game of any quality/popularity that I can think of is Monster Hunter
There's even a comparison argument here, Sony released 4 different revisions of the PSP. None of them included a second analog stick despite having a bunch of fairly popular FPS' and receiving the most amount of Monster Hunter games on any one system.
Probably a smart move by Nintendo, but I have to agree it looks pretty unattractive. Not sure how comfortable it will be to handle.

And it definitely won't be a pocket device.

If I'm not mistaken, you can see the wireless indicator on the official picture.
