If it's the last chair I'll ever need then I would consider splurging.

well, the design and comfort of herman miller chairs are highly variable in satisfaction, depending on your weight and frame.
At work they give us options of aeron sizes A, B, and C. (from least mass to highest mass). B and C were ok, but not great. I would not spend $200 on my work chair.
However, the mirra, which is cheaper than the aeron (as in 100 to 200 cheaper), is vasty more comfortable to me in several dimensions over the aeron. So i bought one.
However, I highly recommend you find a design store in a major metropolitan area to test drive one before plunking down.
But, yes, I've had mine 4 years now and still love it. and easily see getting another 6-8 years out of it unless it gets gross. And I've had several women who co-habitated with me turn to be possessive about the chair.

I tried a Mirra and liked it, but it's been a fucking hassle to get one. I had a local vendor who sent me a used chair instead of a new one because they were out of stock. Had it returned. Ordered another one from Amazon. Wrong color and missing features. Just processed a return with Amazon for that and ordered yet another one. If this one is wrong I'll know I'm destined to sit on boxes.

Sucks, mish. Hope this next one works out for you.
When I ordered mine Amazon didn't carry them. I think I ordered from sit4less.

Finally have it. Love it. Easily the best chair I've ever owned. ;D

I'd take a few recommendations if we're still going. I'm not extremely picky about quality so under $150 should do. And for the love of god I never want to sit in a thinkchair again. Adjustable armrests are also a plus.
