Im sure some of you already are aware of this new malware but for those who are not,  I figured I would share.    I work for a large scale hospital and i'm in the IT business.      We got hit with this malware which can be easily removed by the lasted malwarebytes however,    the files that get encrypted , remain encrypted.    It's targeting office, photos, pdf's ect and will even reach out to department shares depending on the permission's.      Microsoft just released a bulletin about it yesterday.    Make sure you flash, java is up to date.

Its only method of propagation is by tricking people into running an exe which it usually disguises as a pdf, taking advantage of how Windows does not display file extensions by default so users just see something.pdf not something.pdf.exe. So activate file extensions and don't open any unknown email attachments and you will be safe.

ive gotten a few emails actually quite recently about the typical "Halp im poor but ill pay you back just give me credit card numbers"
but nothing that i have suspected of malware though.

Thanks for the heads up ill make sure to foward the email to didzo or something if i get one
I'll be sure to open up any PDFs sent from Elder or my dearly departed Nigerian uncles immediately. I need to get my millions of dollars of inheritance one way or another.
