  • Several BRBU members will be cosplaying as the "Professionals" from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Anyone is welcome to join in on the cosplay, and I have provided some reference photographs and a shopping list for convenience.

    Reference album

Check your closets for: Black/grey tie, white button-down shirt, black/grey slacks, a satchelbag, aviators, OJ gloves, and black shoes. Oh, and the vest.

Clothing (bold is what I have bought)
Eyewear: 3/5 of the models wear black aviator sunglasses. 1 of the remaining models wears wayfarers. You'll probably be fine with whatever sunglasses you have if they're neutral and don't look overly sporty. If you need links: 1 2 3

Top: White button-down shirt. If you don't have one of these, then consider updating your wardrobe. Make sure the one you bring is a good fit! In the interest of uniformity: 1

Tie: Black or grey ties, mostly skinnies. One of them has some subtle patterning, the rest are solid. 1 2 3

Vest: Toughest part. All 5 wear (pin?)striped vests which range from nearly black to a light silver/grey. I'm leaning more towards the dark. I can't find vests on the usual sites that don't have a solid back. With this resignation in mind: 1 2 3 4 5
EDIT: The Vesuvios come with matching ties. Whatever. EDIT2: The first three seem to have bluish backs. Let's just stick with 4 and 5?

Gloves: All 5 wear black gloves of ambiguous material. They appear to have knuckleplates that are subtly red in hue, but this is such a minor detail that it took me until now to notice. I'm comfortable ignoring that. Pick what you're comfortable with, but I recommend just wearing black glove liners for comfort, cost and form. 1 2 3

Pack: The bags carried by the professionals are rounded, but you can probably get away with whatever shape including what you may already have lying around, provided you avoid those with distinct and recognizable labels. 1 2

Belt: The vests obscure the belts from the front. Just wear something black and nondescript.

Pants: Grey to black slacks or work pants. You probably have something appropriate already: 1 *Multiple colors and sizes available. Take your pick.

Shoes: Black, nondescript. Dress shoes ideal, but anything that's not clearly tennis/running shoes. Hope you've got your own already. 1 2 3

    Gear
I will be talking to HeK about 3d printing some knives. More on that later.

Don't make or bring a bomb. It's probably not a good idea. If we did a bomb, it will have to be the old 1.6 style (satchelbag). But, probably just don't do it.

For your gun, I recommend getting an airsoft gun and disabling it. Con staff frowns upon projectiles that can still fire. If you're coloring it, you should be dismantling it anyways to apply paint. No particular advice on how to do the weapon skins, other than that basic skins (eg Radiation hazard) will be easier to pull off than intricate ones (eg Vulcan). I won't bother listing every possible gun, but here are some ones for which I found some cheap airsoft junk on amazon:

    Desert Eagle
    Beretta 92(buy two!)
    MAC-10 *Very inexpensive
    MP7
    Sawn-off Shotgun
    AK-47
(There are airsoft awps, but they are invariably expensive)

    Should I re-skin my gun?
What is CSGO but a gun coloring book? I think that we should try to get a broad range of the game's weaponry, and those who are ambitious should consider emulating some of the in-game skins. I'll probably go for an AK skin (predator, safari mesh, maybe redline if I'm ballsy). Pistols, SMGs, AWPs, these will all be good and variety will be fun. Don't bother trying to make your own guns, airsoft + artful painting and modification will be your friends, if you disable the shooting functions of the guns. Real guns are a no-no. I'll investigate into prop grenades/flashbangs. However, I do not think having a prop bomb is a very good idea. People going around in costume is one thing, but fake plastic explosives will not be looked upon favorably by anyone.

Isn't dressing up like terrorists at a very busy convention a terrible idea?
People have done weirder costumes than this. No oneFew will bat an eye, though IRT will probably frown at our guns and make us tag them.

Who's going to be doing this?
    • Eightball - AK-47 (Redline)
    • TronPaul
    • Elder - Sawn-off Shotgun (The Kraken)
    • Dtrain - Desert Eagle (Conspiracy)
    • Live-Free-or-Pie - Mac-10 (?)
    • Something Swain* - Dual Berettas (Colony/Contractor)
    • Dr. Commish* - ??
    • Scar11 - AWP (Pit Viper)
*Pending ACEN attendance. Let us know if you need help getting there!

Current phase: Planning, design, and general interest. Acquisition & recruitment

    Post your pics!

I'd have to think you'd have better luck picking a more inclusive organizing theme. Like first-party Nintendo characters for a platform launch, or CoD (inclusive of all series), or even CS (inclusive of all versions).

There is no unifying game for brbu like tf2. (second place finishers include minecraft, LoL, DOTA, PS2, diablo, and, yes, HALO).

To try to force people into a lesser played game is to make ACEN even more of an in-club than it already is.
Yo, I'm in.
im up for it as i have airsoft guns and costume should be generally easy

im thinking separatists or elite

deagles for everyone

Maybe I should clarify that statement a bit. I want a group BRBU cosplay. The overlap between our games is not going to be perfect and I don't want to get into the logistics of how many of the congoers play ps2 vs csgo and have it turn into a pissing contest or rift. I am making the argument that for a simple group cosplay, this will be easier than that. I know that this will end up passing by the PS2'ers that don't play CSGO, but the reverse is just as true. Eff it, see below.

EDIT: hold on, gotta edit to your edits

It's true, those first points would be more inclusive. I suppose I was/am more passionate about CS since our presence in it is currently growing. All-inclusive CS is fine by me.

I hope this doesn't come across as forcing people into it. There are specific members I'm hoping to recruit who play CS with us on a regular basis and I'd like to offer a good segue for them. I hope that doesn't come across as aloof to the other members but I can only speak towards the part of the community that I know. I'll edit the OP to try to reflect the fact that I'd like "a lot of people" in on this, rather than that this will be "brbu's main cosplay".
Sounds cool, but me going to ACEN is iffy at best. But if I were to theoretically attend I would prefer the Anarchist or Professionals.
yeah 1.6 leet crew is the most recognizable
It is going to explode!

Study material
I'm a fan of costumes that involve actual clothes.  I think I remember the old leet krew.  I remember always picking them, at least.

Kahki's with cargos, leg holster for glock, square (rectangle) sun glasses, and green sweater or jacket (full zip up whatever it is, jacket seems more likely) Crop top haircut.

General rule in CS 1.x-Source when playing competitively (because you were able to do this), was to specifically all select a single player skin (no one should select anything different), this way it's a lot harder to identify the "better players" and therefor target them first, leet krew (1337 kr3w) was always the favorite when doing this.
i think i remember that they also had a slightly smaller head model (not hitbox)
what the hell, i'm in.

I ordered some headgear for a few of these skins to see how easy/cheap/feasible this can be. I originally thought the separatist's masks were more floppy and ragged than they actually are; a white balaclava with separate eye holes can do the job nicely. I'll update when I've received them and taken pics.

The goal for this cosplay is to have unified outfits for less than $100 (before weapons, paint), as well as possible buy links for conformity. it should be easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy.

put on your Sunday best kids, were going shooting.
Making the executive call of knocking out pirates and phoenix connexion.

EDIT: Also knocking out guerilla warfare, if we're doing old-school CS then it's going to be the most recognizable one.
I will probably do a Fire Serpent (If I am ballsy) AK since I know someone who has a broken airsoft AK they haven't thrown out.

My friend suggested this site for cheap (used) airsoft deals. They even have an AWP for $100.
