My settings that work quite well for me:

cl_crosshairsize 4
cl_crosshairstyle 4
cl_crosshairgap 0
cl_crosshairthinckness 1
cl_crosshair_drawoutline 1

I like to keep my color green as it is the best to see against a variety of different objects/colors.

I found this to be helpful.

I found it doesn't quite translate in-game properly all the time. But I found something pretty awesome that works well for me through that, +1.
