I have a very limited amount of time to do my Fallout Lab Uniform cosplay for Dragon*Con, and I'm essentially sprinting this weekend and (possibly) next weekend to get it done. This weekend is clothing, next weekend is large props (painting my pistol, assembling & painting my pipboy)
Reference:
Purchased for potential subsequent modification:
Dickies lab coat
Dickies short sleeve jumpsuit (because temperature control is going to be key under the lab coat, I learned this with Medic)
Steel toe motorcycle boots
Pistol holster
Yellow fabric
Stencils
Various implements of fabric modification
Purchased long ago:
Two different Pip-boy resin kits
Blade runner blaster resin kit
Electronics shit
Airbrush
Paints in various flavors
Sewing machine
Fan re-cabling:
(realized I should have started taking pictures much earlier, missed all my experiments with heat shrink and solder that I hid with that last layer of heat shrink) PURPLE ZIP TIES BECAUSE TECHNOLOGY IS MIGHT!
Battery box automotive trim taped together, connectors soldered on:
Breaktime for some Old Bay Fried Chicken:
Holes drilled, plugs mounted, wires folded, final test before hot glue potting:
Done but not yet shown:
Potted wiring
Animated gif of the thing spinning
The lab coat, which now has a reinforced hole and eyelets for where this thing is going to mount.
Tomorrow:
Modding the jumpsuit with either interfacing or a sewing machine or both.
Reinforcing the shoulders of the lab coat so they're stiffer and look more like the picture.
Figuring out how many pairs of socks I have to wear to make my motorcycle boots fit, or find out if I can get expedited shipping on some the right size.
Figuring out how to mount the battery box for the fan. Belt?
Next week:
Paint resin pistol / find a shitty one that actually fits in the holster.
Assemble holster
Assemble and paint pip-boy
Figure out how to either mount current phone or ask Caff really nice to finally do that iPod Touch app or just use back-lit plex with a fixed image.
