we have a battlefield server?

I'll be honest, it doesn't look like he could hit the broad side of a barn if he was standing inside of it.

Yeah I run it. Unfortunately I run it on Official settings. Official disables pretty much any administrative usefulness but allows quick join. If it's not on official there's no quick join population. Catch 22 bs from EA.
I actually run 3. Though I think I'm going to let them run out, no one plays regularly now that GTA V was released.
Anyway, check my signature for the 3 servers I have going for BFH. If anyone wants to play let me know and I'll play some more.
This policy was put in place because so many "badmins" were whine-banning because someone killed them. And so EA wanted to prevent that, but of course by doing that they called open season for cheating on servers where admins would LIKE to be able to help, but of course, can't. (We aren't the Badmins by the way, we actually would help, if EA would let us, we're usually a play as it's built no restrictions community, cheating doesn't qualify that).

If anyone wants to change this, feel free to forward it to EA and Punkbuster. Because as long as you're playing on "Official' servers, you can't play with administrators who can do a damn thing about administrating the servers they pay for.

The thing is, Dice WANTS to make good games, EA just shoves the shit in on them.
I would bet all of the money I don't have that Disney's Battlefield: Star Wars by Dice will have the same problems.
But see the "Badmin" problem really only started becoming a real problem when these games started to be console focused. So the real solution is to get all the console plebs to stop buying consoles, and stop buying console games, that way the PC community will be louder than the whiny bitches and shit should get done right.

Play a real game like Mechwarrior
05-29-2015, 08:44 AM
I really just do not like it, or any mech game, they have never provided any semblance of fun to me at any point ever. It falls into the same bucket as why I never liked World of Warcraft (seriously, it's the exact same reasoning as to why I don't like WoW).
I still want to build my own game(s) though. Work is finally slowing up a little, though we have a web site launch starting today and becoming "Official" on Monday. So, gotta do that.
Still I'm going through a fuckload of Udemy courses on utilizing different game engines and whatnot so I can become significantly comfortable with them (right now fiddling a lot with Unity... I have a simple top down tank shooter player prefab I've built).
And to bring this back ON topic.
The Battlefield: Hardline Server has had population in it every day this week. (Probably because the BFH expansion update released this week and a bunch of servers started running those maps while this server is one of few that still run the non-expansion maps).
Which brings us to the other problem with Frostbite Engine/Battlefield Games: If the server is playing a non-expansion map, and has any expansion maps in the rotation, only those WITH the expansion may play on the server (even if, of course, you as the player DO have the non-expansion map). Reasoning behind this falls into something like "there's different weapons" or some other BS claims, but then we can look at TF2 and go "Yeah, so what? Allow the assets to be loaded, but don't allow them to be used by those who don't purchase the expansion." Simple fix really, they're hindering servers (in yet another way) who want population and good full rotations.
