Okay I'm raging about KTF right now. I've never liked the game mode and once I played it again today, I really must say that it is incredibly unbalanced. Let's look at ktf_blockfort for a second.

These two pictures state what is most likely to happen.

Now maybe you can't have 5 heavies or 4 scouts, but you get what I mean. All you have to do is get huddled in a corner, and then spray and pray. These are just examples and not what always happens on the map, but its a good example of what I'm trying to prove.

Seriously, how are you going to get rid of that defense? Let's try and look at the options.

1. Spy Backstabs
--Pic #1: Maybe you'll get one backstab, but then that sentry is on you with the other characters noticing you're there as well. Plus, once you zap the sentry, everyone knows.
--Pic #2: Those heavies will most likely have Nataschas. They'll slow you down, preventing backstabs and getaways.

2. Demo Stickies
--Pic #1: Someone will notice and go to kill you. You won't kill everyone in one shot.
--Pic #2: Maybe you'll get some of the heavies, but those snipers will get a headshot.

3. Rambo Style.
--Both: Depends if you have uber. It could work, but without uber a 60% chance that it would succeed I'm guessing.

So yeah, I'm raging how the mode is unbalanced towards both teams, and that all you have to do it camp in a small place with a lot of people to win. Doesn't take a lot of skill, and the other team rages because its unfair.

The last time I saw KTF played here pretty much everyone went scout, lol.

Both teams are on equal ground and therefore the map is balanced. What made the team who has the intel have it in the first place? What I gather from your whining is that the team who grabs the intel first is the one who wins, no matter what. I have played a 12v12 30 minute blockfort game that went well into overtime, so from my experience there is a way to fight over the intel.

Firstly, wtf is Rambo style? 60% chance of succeeding without uber? I gotta learn that shit.  (60%)(9 players)=5.4 players succeeding. Secondly, you're acting like the attacking team can't work together and only has one player/class. Maybe getting a spy up in that bitch, along with a demo, and the 7 other teammates, will help retrieve the intel. Work with yo team.

KTF shouldn't be played 9v9 in the first place. 4v4 its pretty fun.
Its instant spawn...by default...its meant to be an absolute spam fest

its one of the maps on vote, should be near the end of the nominate list

Turtling up really doesn't work on blockfort.  It's not like there are any amazing sentry spots and anyone trying to cram into the corner by the spawn is easy pickings for anyone up top.  The defending team has to go out and intercept attackers before they get to them if they want to hang onto the intel for very long. 

Blockfort is possibly my favorite custom because of how fast-paced and frantic the action is.  I believe I played the other day in the game you are refering to Darkchief and my team wasn't turtling you guys just weren't working together.  I believe you were battle medicing no?

a pretty good strat is uninstalling, i tried it and i've been pretty happy with the results!

I played a pretty fun and balanced (every few mins it changed hands before a cap) round of blockfort a few weeks ago.

I do think it may be funner (love that word) if the spawn was a few ft away and you entered an arena area (not able to return with flag and maybe have 2 or 3 entrances to come in from different angles...hmm maybe i should take up map making)- as to prevent spawn camping as well as the ease of holding the flag at the door of your spawn.

But again like caf said... it kinda is the point to be fast paced and chaotic... just personal pref.  every now and them I'm all for it
you realize on blockfort everyone turtles in their spawn corner. the solution is rocket spam from above and sticky/pill spam from over their block. like from either side or just flat out over the top. when youre crammed in a corner spam will rape. 2 demos can clear out that entire team in the corner no problem. lrn2spam?

blockforts better than dbowl and all the ctf maps as bad as it is. also better than that attrocious ktf_innercity

Eh, it's fun for a little while but gets old quick.  After about 1 round I feel like RTVing usually.
Seriously?  You really made a thread about KTF?  It's not even a real game mode.  Blockfort is the BEST KTF map, which sort of sums it up.  It's a fun diversion like Steamroll or Wacky Races.  If you get "raged" over it you're just a retard.
