ctf_research_b1 - by our own Geoff, I liked this the first time he put it out and finally has finished another playable version with a lot of fixes, we need more center flag maps

cp_erosion_b3 - We tried this last week but due to a file fuck-up we didn't get much play on it. Id like to give this a proper run, for 100% assurance that you get the right file, you can download from the maps FTP here

cp_desparados_b2 - Reminds me of an old Spanish mission, its a linear CP map but I'm not sure if its gravelpit or dusbowl style, maps FTP link for super assurance


Since this is also the night the scout update hits (knowing valve, they will patch 2 minutes before TF Tuesdays starts), we will also play some cp_egypt, since I don't think we've ever done that one.



Additionally, the final release of Norad will likely be out as well (link to follow), it will replace either cp_stag or ctf_chaos, which ever one garners more hate in this thread.
No balloon races 2 makes karth sad.


But whatever. Will be there hopefully.

But can we get a switch up on the rotation?
I like stag and chaos.  Can we just get rid of labor instead?  I don't remember what else is actually on rotation.
Kill Chaos. Stag is nice, if not a bit easy to get lost in.

as much as I hate chaos, I enjoy it more than stag.  I don't hate stag, it's just beyond frustrating to play when it's mostly pubscrubs.  It usually just rolls.

Seriously, I hate that place more than Chaos, Mach4, and 2Fort combined (but not Freight. I can't hate anything more than Freight).

They are, the only problem is that people use to whine a lot when the other team have a good sniper or build 2 good sentries

I'd say scrap Chaos. As much as I love ctf maps, this one has all the things people complain about when they shit on ctf.

I assume this isn't what Karth meant but do you suppose you could mix up the rotation? Not change the maps, just change the order they come in? Smile
Kill Chaos, it's a decent map but the balance between teams has to be perfect.  One side has too good offense or defense or one side has to shitty offense or defense and its a roll.
While I generally refrain from throwing my opinion out on everything, no rotation ever will have 100% all maps that you like. I think most people realize that, I try to keep some diversity in the map rotation in both types of map (PL/CP/CTF) and diversity as a mix of custom maps and stock maps.

I believe the current rotation is something like...

Stock:
Dustbowl
Goldrush
Bad Water

Custom:
Chaos
Mach4
Labor
Stag
freight


I'd have to look it up since I can't recall it exactly off the top of my head, I would be in favor of possibly taking out both Stag and Chaos for something like pl_waste and pl_norad, but that would make the rotation PL heavy, maybe add back in cp_gravelpit, 2fort, or cp_egypt (if people like it) to balance things out.

If someone can suggest a better 5 control point custom map than Labor or Stag to put on the rotation feel free, cause Id rather not go with well, badlands, or granary. To be honest, I really can't think of any right off the top of my head. (Steel Perhaps?)
I love steel and it's now a stock so no one can complain about the downloads.  I'd definately take out chaos though, I've noticed no one wants to play it and it can kill a server.
Look, just take out Stag. It's a poorly balanced map for scrubs.

I can't recall any other map which places a spawn so disadvantageously in respect to a player's points. There is no reason spawn doors should open to a blind turn. Second point is just awful to reclaim (either face the third and get shot from the point, or face the point and get shot from the entrances from third) and if you don't know the exact position of the first point and have a mastery of prefiring, you're dead on your ass getting out of spawn to save the round. First point does have the virtue of a second exit, but it doesn't help that the opposing team can come in at any angle. All you have to your advantage is surprise against a steamroll which will flawlessly take you down. It's not like Chaos where clever sack-from-behind maneuvers can get back the game. As soon as the third point is taken in Stag, it's all over but the suffering. This is all in scrubs though. Actual competitive play, it's good. Just keep it off of rotation.

TL;DR: if you don't get the first cap in Stag, you're fucked up your ass. Also teambalancing lol.
Take Chaos and Stag off the rotation, or just Chaos. We CAN rtv to those yknow :V.

Just leave Mach4 and Labor in >:C
Some ideas:

-Take Chaos out and (possibly) replace it with 2fort or Turbine (1 or 2 engy limit)
-remove Goldrush and replace it with Egypt if that turns out nice, then throw in norad and/or waste
-Don't put in Steel, it rapes fps even more than freight
-If you throw in norad and waste, I'd suggest throwing in 1 or 2 more popular cp maps (not junction, it's too small)
-If you insist on Junction make it close to Mach4 as both cater to small crowds (though imo leave Junction out, it's awful for 12 people, worse than Mach4)
-Stag is a good map, but if one team has strong scouts they're almost guaranteed to win because of how open mid is (needs scoot limit of 2 or 3)

I might post some thoughts on new maps later, got class in a bit
