I'll preface this post with the disclaimer that I haven't been around all that much, but with that point aside, the issues still stands, on huge fucking stilts.

#1's rotation is, simply put, a total fucking trainwreck. I want to play there, as much as possible because that's where the heart is. That's where everyone that makes this community so gdamn great came from, its where we should be all the time, no fucking around. The problem is these back-to-back customs, that have terrible mechanics/layouts/low replay value. It's really not a fine science to thread some stock/highly played customs in between the new maps, but regardless of dropping from a full server to 10 players, the rotation stays the same. It's gotta stop, really. People like the server, they dig the vibe but we need to pick maybe 10 maps, and have 5 in a rotation. The total rotation length should be 10 maps at maximum, let new people get familiar with the rotation, so when they play here they know what's coming next.

I know I have access to change all this, but I want some discussion, one way or the other, because arbitrarily changing shit makes panties twist faster then Rummy puting cspan on tivo.

There is no greater buzzkill then downloading consecutive custom maps when the action is hot/server is full.

I'll have to agree with this.
I've been on when a full server has dropped to 8 and also when people RTV to keep from playing the next map religiously.  Which is to say I played on the server a couple of times lately.
Also, half the time the Dl server doesn't work for me
I don't even know what the rotation is because RTV usually comes up first.  As for a 10-map rotation without consecutive customs, I danno, something like this?

WP2 is the only custom I'd be insistent on.  Norad should be on if we want to promote it at all, otherwise plenty of more popular stuff to drop it for.  2fort is not needed, Turbine is a better official and M4 is a better 2fort.  I know Steel isn't a custom and I really want it in rotation, but I figure it'd have to go in a "custom" slot.  My goal is just to have a rotation with a good variety of gametypes at least.  No back to back customs is fine, but I lose half the reason to play on the server if they aren't a regular part of the server.
Aqua needs to burn in hell.  Despite all the water.  Kor kinda has a point though.

Something like this is what I'm talking about. There's dozens of viable maps that people won't need to DL that would be considered "custom". RTV menu is also a contributing factor to killing the server off; we did it today on Switchback, and 6 maps that all sucked massive bear dick came up. I'd also consider removing arena maps entirely, TF2 != CS.
I agree with Kor, though perhaps in not so many words.  It may be time to take BRB #1 back to its roots a bit.  We are constantly doing these custom maps, when it used to be the tried and true, while we left trying out the betas and the customs for TF Tuesdays. That was the day we tried out the new ones, and decided what we'd like to see more in the rotation.  I'm not saying the server should be all stock all the time, just work the stocks in a bit more.  Toss in some 2Fort, some Granary, or perhaps some Dustbowl.  Keep out of 10 rotation like three good customs.  That way we aren't constantly downloading new maps that may not end up being all that good.  Food for thought.

I agree. I haven't played much Tf2 with BrBu lately, because when I play, I want to play some great balanced grinds on maps I already know. I miss saying to myself "Kor won on Warpath last week, but this week I'm going to stuff his ass back to 1st point."
Wow...I haven't played Warpath in ages!  I vote we add that in lol
Funny, I was thinking of making a thread sorta like this.

3's the only server that I'd / most people will stay on for more than a map, yet it's on the west coast so I'd rather not bother with 100+ ping just to play some decent maps, meaning I haven't been on brbu servers much. Switch 1 and 3, or hell put 3's maps on 1, move 1 to 2, and set fire to 2 'cause no one plays there anyway.

Ok admittedly that's not a good rotation but I felt like crossing out Egypt a few times for emphasis. :x

Summing up my exact feeling. Sometimes people will invite me over, when I see its on #1 I'm more inlined to stay where I am because I don't like getting out of the groove. I've been seing alot more activity on #3 just because of its all-stock rotation.

I actually liked Wedge's rotation, maybe we should just use that as a template and tweak from there.

*I realize that a lot of this community hates arena. However, a lot of the TF2 community loves this game mode, and I've seen a lot of connections when we switch to these maps. Think of it as a server filler.
