10 years ago, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit.  These men promptly escaped from maximum security stockade to the CP_Warpath2 underground.  Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune.  If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire...

The BRB Team.

I had mentioned this in passing to Joel a while back, it came up again for some reason recently, and Rumsfald dropped the "crack commando unit" line on the Funny Caption Thread.  I'm prompted to promptly put this idea on paper.

I want to do a send-up of the introduction for the A-Team, of course.  Some clips will be replaced with awesome staged TF2 action scenes.  I'm definitely going to need some help, so I will entreat the community soon.  I won't need more than a couple of people for any one scene.  I will need Gmod expertise for some of the requirements such as a Murdock airplane clip (queue the cheap office-chair + wooden door wings + rocket jet airplane).

Characters / Classes:
  • Hannibal: Spy.  He needs to disguise.  He smokes a cigar.  No-brainer.
  • Face: Hmm.  He uses disguises a lot, too, but he can't be another spy.  I'm going with Medic for now.
  • Murdock: Bat-shit crazy?  Scout.
  • B.A.: Demoman.  A Heavy might be fine, too.
  • Amy: Problem.  No female classes unless you count Pyro's ambiguity.  I don't know what to do with her.  Any ideas?  I got nothin'.

Attached is the time index sheet of scenes from the intro.  The scenes themselves will be replaced but it'll help me stick to the flow of the theme song.

My to-do list:
- Plan a fake episode so as to produce a silly Preview with silly non sequitor quotes and clips.
- Decide what scenes to faithfully reproduce and what scenes to replace with custom action. (* see below)
- Determine how many people are needed for each clip that cannot be done solo.
- Warpath2 wall-breaking used for the B.A. door-breaking scene.  It takes 25 Heavy punches to break both the brick wall (the target) and the wooden interior wall.  So we queue it to 24 hits and then stand by.

Faithful vs. custom: We can't put someone in a monster suit unless we do mad Gmod science and stick a Spy in a Heavy ragdoll (possible?).  We can't do the tank shot -> vehicle flip unless maybe we splice a Soldier crit rocket and a Buggy flip in Gmod.  Oh, and whatever we do, I am required by a local ordinance to end with the Trademark Jeep flip straight from the TV show.

I am uncertain on what to type for the credits when they introduce Hannibal, etc.  Meaning do I say Hannibal is played by George Peppard or by whatever community member was playing Spy at the time?  I won't worry about that right now.

Posting this will help me get my ass in gear.  If you have ideas or want to help, please let me know.  Thanks!
Pyro for Amy would be hilarious, due to the very fact you stated, unless you got some custom skins on FPS Banana, maybe theres a female medic model

omfg. ???

Seriously, though, Demoman for ethnicity, Heavy for meathooks.  Who would look better bursting through the wall in Warpath?  It might look sillier if it's apparent the Demoman broke the wall down with his bottle vs. Heavy punching it down.

Also, we need that sloooww-turn scowl in the convertible.  Who has a better grr-grr scowl?

Use Gmod to give the Heavy blackface? :p
Sounds like win to me. Count me in on anything you need as far as recording, although I have no experience in GMOD  :-\
Me or Rio could probably help out in gmod. We at least screw around in it once in a while.

....making balloon cars.
There's a female scout model. She isn't very pretty though, and she still sounds like a dude.

Oh, you got time to make introductions, huh?

To be serious...

Credits should say Kor Peppard or some such mashup.

And, if you are going to go this far in planning the concept you should commit to a story arc to be told over several machinima episodes, a la Red v. Blue.  There is tons of potential in a continuing story of the A-team in the TF2 world.

Fail, this is a good idea!

Rumsfald, you ever saw that Youtube Poop where Robotnik punches Grounder through the changing screen and yells, "SILENCE!!"  Yeah.

That aside, thank y'all for the encouragement and ideas.  I'll not officially commit to a story arc... yet...

I will try to block as many scenes as possible before cast-calling so I can be economic with people's time.

Dave lends his pro acting talents.
Looks like we can pull off the Hannibal monster costume gag.  ... Kinda.

Also, thanks for the offers.  Short-term goal is to shoot some stuff the upcoming weekend (7/12).
Joel constructed this airboatplane, posed the Scout ragdoll, and saved the aircraft from spazzing itself to destruction several times.  Joel is Gmodgod and He bequeath biplane.

I'm gonna be getting gmod here soon and hope to help out.
I have scenes for the title sequence blocked.  I'm not gonna shoot a "preview of upcoming episode" because I'm not plannin' an episode yet.

I only need more than two people for five of the scenes.  I only need five people for two scenes.  We're only talking about a few seconds worth of footage for each of these scenes.  After setups, this should go lightning quick, i.e. you'll be all like, "What, we're done?"  (finished thing's only gonna be 2 minutes, lawl).

Here's what I'm needin'.

I will ask server lords if I can lock up a box for 30+ minutes.  If not, I think I can host a dedicated (which wouldn't / shouldn't need Hamachi).

Please Steam me or forum PM me if you'll be around this weekend and general idea of availability.  Thanks, y'all.
:o

I actually made a video from bits of footage from the BRB.U servers (and some other stuff) and stuck the A-Team theme tune over it. I made it months ago, and was only recently able to upload it onto Youtube.

There's a link, though I'd recommend watching the high quality version.

Sorry for interrupting the thread, but I couldn't believe the odds of this happening.

Oh and hi!  Big Grin

That was entertaining Big Grin .  Even had a good Insomnia quote in there ("Anyone want to try roasted sniper?").  Nice work on that; thanks for posting it!
