How many makers of XP installs are available?
So far I have found only TinyXP by eXperience, which I use because its partitoned off my mac.
I once saw Windows XP "Gamer Army" Edition and havent found a link to it yet,
also Nlite for DIY windows installs,

any of them better than the rest?
Ive never used them but I have a friend that swears by them, very convenient especially after a wipe.

Id do a little back research on google or check pirate bay, the comments on the torrents can generally be a good help in selecting a good custom install pack.
Yeah that's true
TinyXP Premium has a nice Vista Skin pre-installed w/ extra codecs and other programs,
Gamer Army is the offical fanclub of Pure Pwnage and join there costs $20 that I can't afford right now..
The best ones I think just include things like Office, Nero, codec packs, and some other commonly used programs

Just makes it easier after a wipe because you don't need to bother reinstalling half that stuff
BartPE.
I've got "Windows Ultimate Edition" which Caff linked me to when I reinstalled Windows. It also has the sexy Vista-ness.

I just wish I could get the info toolbar to display on the left side of windows instead of along the bottom (looking in 'My Computer' and having it display like XP does. Hope that makes sense.)

I have to reinstall windows by tonight if I want to play, because I wiped my windows partition then merged it with my mac.  Can anyone recommend me a Custom install?  My slipstreamed XP SP2 disc doesn't want to work right now.

Then you should *not* look for TinyXP Platnum Edition 2 by eXperience.

I almost burst out laughing in class, +1
I'm looking into this now, I think I'm going to go with your recommendation chooly and use tinyxp.
I'm going with tiny xp revision 9, ironically I have a legitimate key but it doesn't let me put it in.

Also for when I install it later (after backing up everything and writing down all my hardware parts I need to get drivers for) should I go with the bare or the regular install.

I'm almost tempted to go bare but it seems like some security stuff is stripped out and possibly other things.  I needs it to be functioning to play some games.
The difference between bare and regular install, atleast for the version TinyXP Platnum Edition, is to install base drivers.
Hope that helps your decision.
I've always used windows xp blackmoon edition, my personal favorite Big Grin
I still think I'm going to go with TinyXP, unless there is an install someone can direct me too that is optimized for gaming ;D
