pre ordered mine on the xbawks, im already thining about hwo it's going to cut into my titan quest time. yeearg...

gota love the violence simulators. i remeber getting a copy of GTA3 ( original ) and what a great time i had with it, i ean it was my first sandbox game so i was pleased witht he amount of do anything you want whenever you want. i was in a fiesty mood and got out of my car, looking at all the "peds" that sassy ol grandma turned down my invitation to trade sex for sex. So i got out my bat and put her down on the ground. that was enough to satisfy me , but i left my X button depressed , and my character started to kick her corpse causing blood to squirtle out, i ROFLed at that for at least ten minutes .. while holding down the X button.

I'm looking forward to finding grandma in GTA4 and seeing what they've done with my favourite mechanic.
I find it funny that GTA 3 came out for the PS2 in 2001 and just now GTA 4 comes out.  Wonder what their marketing strategy was when they decided to not number Vice City and San Andreas but to go back and number this one.

But yeah I might have to pick this one up.  The multi-player looks pretty awesome.
I played 1 and 2 and 3 but not the expansions.  Weird thing is 1 and 2 had multiplayer.  I made a thread about it on dtoid.  I wasn't interested until recently.  I might pick it up later on, I'm trying to spend as little as possible lately which means no new games for the time being.
Won't be picking this one up, Ive never been a fan of GTA games. They entertain me for about a week or two before I shelve them away, I just find driving from A to B over and over for missions and such somewhat monotonous and killing hookers and random pedestrians looses its magic after a while

Agreed, the only thing that's made me interested is that it seems to be getting away from that.  But I'm not interested enough to shell out $60 and fight the hordes of GTA zombies.  If I wanted to fight zombies I'd just wait for thursday.
Meh, I had fun with 3.  It was a new experience to just cop kill and run and see how long I can survive and since I stayed away from Vice and San Andreas I should be refreshed enough to play again.

Plus the multiplayer heist sounds awesome.  One team is cops and the other is robbers.  The robbers get unlimited lives but the crime boss only gets one.  Robbers have to escort crime boss with loot to the extraction point and cops have to stop them.  Cops are allowed to see the robbers on their radar but have no clue where their extraction point is.

That with all the peds from the single player game in the multiplayer world should add for an extra experience.
i hope this eventually gets released on PC

Well Kane and Lynch sucked as a game so I'll give RockStar a chance to get it right.
I pre-ordered mine today, I are happy Big Grin
If they don't release this on PC someone will die.
You know it will come to the PC.  Right when all the hype has worn out completely...
EB Games is only offering a poster for pre-ordering, so I'll just buy it on launch day. They're going to have more than enough for me to pick it up at one of the stores in town.

Still tossed about taking a day off of work or not. I'll probably pick it up that afternoon and take the next day off, so I can get in more game time. Tongue

Definitely looking forward to it. One thing that GTA does so well (aside from the stunning atmosphere and character that they always put into the worlds) is all the ways you can just fuck around instead of doing the main story. Not just limited to "killing hookers" either, all the stunts, jumps and crashes you can do with the vehicles. ^_^

Isn't that what they're hoping for with APB, with more people?
Coming out in just a couple of days! ^_^

Although the Medic changes are supposed to be coming out this week too. Gah! I'm torn! Sad

I'm not too torn between them. I can wait until the summer to play GTA4, though I did preorder it. If they start releasing a crapton of unlockables though, I won't know what to do.

plunked down my cash for the xcocks version.

and I don't buy many games.
Goddamnit I really fucking want this.  Those PC-hating bastards.

so, yesterday amazon hooked me up and provided me with a nice shiny copy even though I only pre-ordered on sunday.

I got home late from work, so I plopped down at the pc like right before TFT was starting.  I looked at GTA4, looked at TFT, and I joined the server.  I wasn't all that into GTA4 anyways.

So, right at the stroke of 9, news breaks out on the server that the TF update had hit. Wow, I thought, I had made the right choice in picking TFT over GTA.

Local download complete, I'm waiting for the server to come back up.  It's taking a while, so I load a local instance of Goldrush.  Wow, totally loving it.  I go through all three sections myself to get a sense of layout, and return to desktop hyped to play.  I think, GTA can wait till tomorrow, wait a week.  No way it takes precedence over TFT on an update night.

Back in desktop, server is not up yet.  Then Caff says in IRC that the server keeps rebooting.  Problem unknown.  Some folks suggest uninstalling some plugins.  I look at the clock, it's getting late, I'm getting tired, and I just came home after working 3 hours overtime.

I says to myself, well, while I'm waiting for the server to get fixed, I'll just watch the GTA4 intro to kill time.  I'll watch then intro, then check back in to see if the server is up.

I put the disc in and here it spin up.  Before I even get a splash screen, one of my 360 buddies tosses me a GTA4 invite.  I haven't even seen the intro yet, but what the hell, I hit accept.  It was like 930ish.

I was sucked in and didn't realize what time it was till it was almost midnight. Wow, the multiplayer is that fun at first encounter.  If it stays that fun, I'm in for some serious addiction.

So, I thought about posting this earlier today when I was at work.  I thought about posting about how I cheated on my beloved TF2.  Medic unlocks, after all, and medic is my favorite class.  Then I was like, no, no-one wants to read my boring wall-of-text drooling over a console game.

So why am I posting my drooling rave now?  Simple.  I just got home from work and this time I am watching the GTA intro.  And you know what they say? Scared Canadians. Yes, my love for this game is now official.  Vandam, you know you cringed when you heard that too, but you can't hide from the truth. Scared Canadians.

It's on pause now.  I'm going to go back and drive my dearly beloved, and drunk, cousin back to his mansion.  See you around Liberty City.
