Taking a cue from IWG, what kind of video card chipset do you prefer, NVidia or ATI?

For me it's clearly Nvidia, this comes from being a Linux user and from the fact that ATI couldn't write good drivers if their life depended on it....
Not this again...

Both have their merits. While Nvidia obviously does a better, more professional job with drivers (ie it not a 3rd party modified driver that gives the best performance on their cards, and they give out Linux drivers), ATI has typically had a better performance/dollar quotient. I have used both many times in the past, and I've never had problems with either.

Great facepalm picture and I'm not trying to start a flamewar but I'm just curious what people prefer and why.

Well this is certainly the place to do it, so I guess I can appreciate that. That being said, at the moment, I have no allegiances. Was gonna install a desktop linux distro on my ATI machine, so we will see if that changes sometime in the next few weeks...
Nvidia, ATI can suck a fat wad. Horrible driver support and hardware thats inferior in rendering everything *EXCEPT* source
i'll go with whoever has the speedier card at my price range Tongue , butt, i do prefer the nVidia control panel over the ATi catalyst poo :-*
nVidia ftw.
I've had more problems with ATI than I've ever had with nVidia (the only ones to note being program freezeups due to nView back in '06 and the rare SLI instability).

Admittedly nForce chipsets and 'nix are like oil and water...

nvidia.
becuz they the best. if ATI was better (performance) i would buy that instead.

i dont see ATI ever coming back to take that crown though. after AMD bought them out, they are settling for second place and taking the focus away from enthusiast graphics cards.
it doesn't make much sense to put your money into a company that isn't interested in catering to your interests.
NVidia because I can actually understand their numbering system.
I'm a holdover from when ATI ruled the graphics market with an iron fist and nvidea was some downschild with crayons.

Im actually a hold-over from when 3dfx (aka Voodoo) ruled the market with an iron fist, until they were bought out by Nvidia, I followed

Im gonna go dig my old Voodoo 3 out of a box and hug it
OMG i cant beleive this... i am the only one likes ATI?  HAHAHHAAH
True drivers sucks ass
True support sucks ass 2
True they are not up to crazy speeds but,  They do make great all in wonder cards.  Even though i do not use ATI cards for anything, i felt like i should atleast support them and give them a proper 1 vote!> <

LOL thanks guys.

I've never had a damn problem with either their drivers or support.... of course, nothing has ever happened that I've needed support...

I'm hopeful all the spider shit that AMD is up to will pump out some fairly awesome machines in the near future, if nothing else, you'll get a $500 dollar rig that'll handle Crysis on high settings.  Hell, if it wasn't for the extra hard drives and monitor mine would have clocked in at under $500.
ALRIGHT!! GO ATI GO!! we are up to 4
I wonder how things will be in half a year when I will probably start looking to build my own machine.  Will ATI win back the respect it seems to have lost around here?
