Damn, that was an awesome game. Excellent AI and combat really help set this apart from all the generic shooters out there. The story was great too, though it didn't make sense to me until after the game was over and I looked at the wikipedia article. All of you fuckers should go out and buy this game right now. It's worth it, and the sequel is coming out in August.
I have a retail copy of this sitting around. Wanted to play it, but my computer could only run it on the crappy lighting engine, which makes the game look terrible. I'll give it another go once I get a better system...
I gave it up after a few days, hated the combat system :|
i do want to play this game but i can only play it in 30 minute intervals , because i get nausea.
breaks the immersion.

The combat gets much better after you get past the first area. Some decent weapons become available and it becomes a lot easier. The early weapons are all crap.
I wonder if you need to play the original to appreciate the sequel. I was planning on waiting for Clear Sky, cuz they say they've fixed a lot of the problems from the original. Did you play the Steam version or boxed?

I swear Stalker has to be one of my favorite FPS games of all time. The first time I got to see the epic scope of Chernobyl my jaw dropped. How the fuck are the levels that massive anyway?

still gives me a headache. trying to get past the first area to see when it starts getting good.
i picked up some artifact or something that gave me radiation poisioning and i died.
I remember as far as I played, to get around the crappy weapons, I just knifed everyone XD.
I've been trying to buy it cheap off ebay, but I keep getting outbid. Ehwell, I bought Quake 4 and Lost Planet for 5 bucks a piece.

I think I was just playing it on normal, and I killed all the dudes in that farmhouse you raid at the start by hitting the AI as they came around corners. I didn't play a whole lot past that, coz' the game looked so bad on my hardware XD.

Really? Cuz everytime I went there, I got fucking rocked (read: raped) by those bandits. I had to ask the other guys for help, then sit in a corner flagellating myself while they did all the heavy lifting.

Well it is pretty realistic combat. You need to be behind cover most of the time or you will get raped. Take potshots from cover and let your buddies distract, and you should be fine. Also loot every corpse you find for ammo and bandages.

I didn't like it much, grinding for equipment got ridiculously repetitive at the beginning, and just annoying towards the end since the stuff you had was already so much better than anything you could find.
The story, and majority of the gameplay, was a lot of fun, but it completely loses replay value for me because of the annoying random quests.
