My internet was being rather lousy tonight, so I've decided to write an intro instead of trying to play and failing.

I'm 23, I've lived in NYC for about five years now, and I still am unsure as to whether or not I actually like it. I got my name from the second Mission Impossible movie, which was really terrible. Before that I was using the name shiblado, which is just a word I made up when I lived other places  Tongue. By other places I mean Jakarta, Indonesia.

I started gaming around the time I was five. We had this light gun game that had a vhs tape and you would shoot airplanes and people. No idea what it was called. Eventually the game part of the system was lost and I just watched the tape. I also had an awesome time with Super Mario Bros (mainly number 3), all Zelda games, all Sonic games, and the California Raisins game. We got a Mac laptop on which I played all of the sim games, my favorite being Sim Ant. My PC gaming really took off when we moved overseas. It was much harder and too expensive to get legit games, so I instead purchased mass quantities of less than legit games (and for some reason a copy of Windows ME with a monkey on the cover). There were quite a few internet cafes around which my friends and I loaded with Half Life and a bunch of mods, namely counter strike betas. Yeah, not all of them had much security or they would be willing to load it for us. I also got a N64 when I was over there, and again, legit games being hard to find, got a Doctor V which was pretty much a CD Drive that attached to the bottom of the N64 and played ROMS. It was awesome except for not being able to save which made it more like playing a graphically enhanced NES. Moved on from there to a Sega Saturn and later a Dreamcast as well as Xbox and 360.

Started playing TF2 during beta on random servers, found out about this one on destructoid and played on it ever since.

Outside of gaming I'm an audio engineer and a musician.

What's the most expensive set of speakers you've ever listened to? At the lab I'm working in right now, they have a couple of $11000-ish speakers from B&W I think. Big Grin

Yay! I have the old toys of them. I think they were from Pizza Hut. Plus I have one of their cassettes! ^_^

I've listened to the speakers that Michael Jackson's Bad was mixed on, soffit mounted so not really my thing. I am guessing they were pretty expensive. I've been to every manner of dub house here in the city, most of them are Genelecs or JBL cinema speakers, so between $5000-$15000 per speaker, usually 6 speakers with the sub so almost $100000 for the system. Not counting the $50000 that goes into room treatment.

Wanna hear a sad story?

So the lab I work at was originally MIT-funded, but is now self-sufficient. They rely on donations and the like to continue doing research. Either way, Bank of America just donated $100 million to the lab, on the condition that they get to take any room they want in the lab, and pimp it out for BoA's wants/needs. They decided to go with the lab's best/only sound studio. I think it cost something like ~ $2 million to make; I'm talking triple-pane, off-kilter windows, double-sealed doors for entrance and exit, that fancy sound proofing foam, etc etc etc. And BoA just up and ripped it all out to build some offices for some fucking bank execs. Talk about striking demoralizing blows.  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

I see that happen a lot around the city spaces changing hands all the time. I breaks my heart. </3

What do you play?

With Kor on Butt Bongo and Vandam on Skin Flute, we could get a BRBu Band going.  Who wouldn't want yet another naming contest and yet another tryout thread?

Mainly synthesizers and a little bass.

I've played some before. I would love to get a vintage model D or source, but they cost so much. I might put some money aside for a Little Phatty, but I will probably just end up spending it on a modular system instead. Tongue

-__- Hey....

Yeah, hey Mission. Your not a new face, so a welcome is pointless. Intro passes, though. I won't steal fuckduck's pass/fails.

Talk about bumping an old thread peaches. Tongue

But yea, this was definitely one of the more interesting intro's, was a shoe-in for the pass from the beginning.

Tell that to Mr. "I Refuse..." Rumsfald.

While it may seem silly to say "welcome" a regular that you see every week, I hope you are not getting that confused with an "introduction."  Cause introductions are serious bidness.  And thanks for reminding me and everyone else that you refuse to make an introduction post.

Copulating, do you have a form for folks that don't want to play along?

I did indeed get those two concepts muddled in my head.  I apologize.

No need to apologize, when you know what will make it all better.  Yeah baby, kiss me on the intro spot.

No. Because I am sure you can annoy people without my help.
