Be Right Back, Uninstalling

Full Version: Do I need a new processor?

I have a Pentium 1.6 GHz dual core processor from Intel, but I can't launch a nuke without crashing in Garry's Mod.

Should I be looking for a stronger CPU? D:
Nukes crash Gmod even if you can run Crysis on high five times. You may want to upgrade though. If your budget allows it, I think the e8400 has a great bang for your buck. You can also overclock the thing a hell of a lot.
I've actually had no issues with nukes crashing up until recently -- I think it's not a CPU issue but rather the recent gamebreaking Source update that they had to rush a patch for.

Though admittedly 1.6GHz is fairly weak for games that don't take proper advantage of multiple cores (which the source engine is unfortunately one of).

Don't you have more pressing issues to deal with, or did you already replace your video card?
My god, you people. That's an 8086. It says it RIGHT THERE. :|

Erm... If you look at the chip, it's an 8086 from the late 70's. That chip is older than probably the majority of people on this forum. Tongue

If memory serves me correctly, it was the predecessor to the 8088, which came before the 286, which came before the 386, which came before the 486, which came before the original Pentium. So yeah kids, you're looking at history right there. Tongue
