Hey all, Mord here. I'm with Grey Wolves. Chimp instructed me to come here and introduce myself and get acquainted. He and Zol and some others all let me know that y'all were a fun crew to play with, so I'm hoping you'll have me!

My primary experience in the past has been in RTS games (I fail spectacularly, but I have fun nonetheless), and in WoW, where I've been playing with GW's for the last 3 and a half years.

I've been dying to play TF2 since I first saw video over a year ago, and now that I've got it installed, I need a good-natured bunch of fellows to come 'do me in' a rather large number of times, until I get good enough that I can successfully shoot back! (no, not kidding even a little bit. I'll have fun, I promise, but I also promise to be the last guy you'll want on your team for a good long while. I apologize in advance!)

Thanks all, very much!
Mord.

:o :o :o

haha, just kidding! damn the dirty mind.

welcome to the community!

what RTS games have you played?
don't sweat it, if dirty minds are in vogue here, I'll fit right in!  ;D

Would you be horrified if I told you that the last time I played FPS, it was ... Duke Nukem?

I'm really not kidding when I say I'm a noob! lol!
Did you get The Orange Box or just TF2? I heartily suggest playing through HL2 asap during server downtime, you will not regret it. If you don't have it (or any of you GW guys, I know Salamander mentioned he didn't have HL2 but he hasn't been back around here for a few days) you can snag someone's free copy here.
I picked up TF2 only, as that was all I was interested in at the time. Now people are telling me I'm missing out not playing Portal.  >Sad

As it happens, a friend at work had already gifted me a copy of HL2. I'm downloading it as I type.

Thanks much, again!
You've come to the right place to get good at TF2. We have multiple people per class that are very talented and willing to show you the ropes.

C&C red alert was where I got started. I played that, and C&C Red Alert 2, exhaustively. Starcraft as well, till my eyes bled. I enjoy RTS a lot... but I freely admit that I'm just not a tactician.

Naturally, Red Alert 3 and Starcraft 2 are looking like a lot of fun!

Awesome! I'll be glad to have the help. I played the Heavy for a bit on another server this eve. I died a lot, but when I finally brought someone else down and got a kill, it was worth it. And somehow, despite my noobishness, my team won. Smile

You don't even know how fucking excited I am for SC2. Big Grin

rumsfald

Welcome.

Is Mord short for something, like Mordimer?

How many maxed characters do you have on your WoW account(s)?

How many servers do you have active characters on your WoW account(s)?

How many times have you quit WoW and re-upped?

HAHAHAHAHA... TALENTED...HAHAHAHAHAH
You should try the mod nights too, most are non-traditional FPS games and can help round out your skills.

Let me tell you how excited I am:  I watch the gameplay videos... and giggle like a kid at Christmas.

yeah, but let's be fair. C&C is fun, but it's just never had the depth of Starcraft or even Warcraft2. It's a throwaway game. Fun as all hell for a little while, but sooner or later you're gonna move on.

Mord is short for Mordanis, my main in WoW.

I have two 70's total. I am pretty much the epitome of the casual gamer. It's a game, I refuse to make a job out of it.

I really only actively play on the Garona server with Grey Wolves. On a dozen or so occasions, I have had a friend invite me to come play on some other server, so I have a collection of lowbie alts elsewhere. But I am loyal to my crew back on Garona.

I have never quit WoW. But I will take a week off here and there. I'm not committed to it in any way, I just play when I can.

Glad to see Chimp is continuing to whore his mates out to the BRB.U community like the pimp that he is  ;D

And welcome!
You got that shit straight, I gots all my bitches earning here at BRB.U.

Treat Mord gently, he's absolutely fucking clueless at TF2. Smile  If you want to down some 40-man ass-raping WoW boss he's your man.  If you're looking for him to back you up when the gates open, well, you're basically fucked.

Could someone walk him through getting the necessary info to Caff (or whoever) so that he can get on the #1 and #2 server lists?  Muchos gracias!

This post explains it pretty well: http://www.brbuninstalling.com/forum/ind...06#msg2906

And if you don't feel like remembering the commands for using a reserve slot to connect to the server, just put this in your autoexec.cfg

Code:
alias "connect_brbu_one" "connect 8.12.20.112:27015"
bind "F10" connect_brbu_one
alias "connect_brbu_two" "connect 18.243.2.105:27015"
bind "F11" connect_brbu_two
alias "connect_brbu_three" "connect 217.115.196.210:27015"
bind "F12" connect_brbu_three

I *think* that will then let you connect to servers 1, 2, or 3 using F10, F11, and F12 respectively.

I never knew about that alias business. Clevar!

Although, I don't really see the point in it in this situation. Just a labeling thing?
