I apologize for the lameness here. I need to create a star system map for an upcoming convention event. Could someone suggest a game or a standalone thing that would accept inputs of planet size, "class", and whatever and create a 3D star system from that? Otherwise, I'm doing this with 4000 hours in MS Paint, and I'm sure you know what that means. Any pointers would be appreciated. Like, would Master of Orion be a possibility? Does it show a decent-looking star + planet map with orbits and what-not and can you customize it like make one planet a gas giant, etc.?Â
Thanks in advance.
I think Galactic Civilizations II has an ability to make your own map. And since the map is a galaxy that should work out
I really want to know what the event is!
Would a 3d map of our real (not very original I know) galaxy work? Because I vaguely remember some open source app that had that...

Actually, I just need the star and the planets.. a close-up
. I can't use our solar system 'cause well that would be too cheap
and we have a few differences. But yes, yes, I could swear I've heard of that program you're talking about, but I didn't have much luck searching for it. I've found a few things here and there on the web but nothing like what I'm hoping for. It's either locked into the Solar System and can't be customized or it's a very simple deal or whatever.
Thanks, guys. I'll keep lookin'!

IT IS NOT GREEN IT IS YELLOW-ORANGE, MY GOOD SIR.
... that's what they get for putting a color-deficient in charge of the color maps.
How about natural satellites?

The sun isn't too big, that's hardly to scale.

There are moons involved. I left that to the flavor text table that is placed to the right of the map in the final handout. II is a binary planet thingie, btw.

And then I think I put V too far out. Oh well!Â
Isn't the sun actually green in hue, only our eyes absorb twice as much green as any other range so it appears more yellow to us?
Someone google that to confirm.

More like white... The sun sends out light of every wavelenghts a human eye can see. Proof: Rainbows!
