Seems to be a huge shitstorm surrounding this game.

Those who have bought it, how is it?
Wow even I have to say they're being a bit harsh... at least give it a 2 for Christ's sake.
There's a difference between being brutally honest and being an asswipe.
Wow. That's really bad. Worse than Warsow.

qft, if they patched the control issues, which is what they seemed to hate the most, then they should re-evaluate it.
I will play the demo when it is released and then I will come up with my own personal opinion on the game.
Seriously though, a 1? Nothing deserves that if it is an original IP created entirely by a small team.
wtf is destructoid?

dtoid's a huge shitstorm. 'nuff said

edit: After reading what's up over at dtoid, it sounds a bit like Luc got railed by the bandwagon that is dtoid. Sad
Pigmask gifted me this game and I haven't noticed any real control issues yet, the jump button not working 2/3 of the time is bullshit, I haven't missed one jump yet... OK I'm not the best platform player in the world but it seems they overreacted massivly about the shittyness of this game...

I've only played a few minutes and the art style is bloody gorgeous... It's def. worth more than a 1 or 2... Brutally honest review? If the control aspect is something to go by they've been more brutal than honest...
I do trust Rev. Anthony for reviews, he does speak his mind.  On one front I'm glad they're not giving Luc a higher review score based on nothing but the fact that he showed his stuff off at Dtoid for a while.  On the other hand what's going on in the comments is just disgusting.

Generally, I want to agree with this statement. But every once in a while, a section of a review comes off as absurdly harsh, and I wonder whether or not they purposely pump up the hate in order to drive more comments, buzz, and pageviews.

I agree, it is disgusting when Brits try to smack talk.
Wow, that sucks.  I had a shiny new 5 dollar bill on my desk looking at that game.

FEAR NOT DOLLAR, YOU SHALL BE SPENT ANOTHER DAY.
I really respect Rev and his integrity. Like usual, I don't agree with his review at all; but he said what he thought, no matter who controversial it may be.

I really thought a 1.0 was way to harsh though. It deserved at least a 4 or a 5. It was an alright platformer some issues (although I had no problem with jumping or shooting like they had) but it's style and presentation were the big redeeming factors. If only Luc had maintained levelheaded in his response (although you can hardly fault him for not doing so) this shitstorm might not have even happened.

I think AngelsDontBurn pretty much summed things up:
"Goddamn this is sad. Some of the worst comments I've ever seen on Dtoid ever, and this post is overflowing with them. Way to go back to Middle School guys. Also, "Waaaaa, you guys don't think my game is the best ever. Wahhh"
Dtoid is pretty much 4chan for gamers these days.

NiceGuy gifted me the game and it IS awesome. But well, it was Destructoid, where you play tougher and you are famous, so it only took one person to blame Luc and then, a wholesome started to copy him. All Jorge >_>

BTW, the game isn't the best i've ever played, it's like a Mix of Densestsu no Stafi + Heli Attack, and it deserved at least a 6, really, i felt dissapointed on Dtoid while i was reading the review and comments, they only tried to make some controversy
Wait, you guys still read Dtoid?

I migrated to Kotaku...
yeah, kotaku is easily my favorite gaming blog now. joystiq is fun to read too, but kotaku just does a lot of cool things.
The game is definitely a shame. Controls aside, I found story and scene transitions to be very abrupt without any real flow. You reach the end of a level and instead of some kind of fade or something, the screen just abruptly cuts to the next level or story bit. If you pay attention to the story though it is a pretty cool idea, and as others have said the art style is absolutely gorgeous.

I've played it since the patch, and unless another patch since came out the controls are still pretty unresponsive. The game is quite playable as is, but you do need to keep the controls in mind.

As for the infamous dtoid review I agree with most of what they said. However this is far from the worst game I've played even in the last year, and while deserving of a low score does not warrant a 1. Personally I'd give a 3 or 4, although I never had any of the crashing problems some people reportedly had.

I can't keep up with Kotaku. They just update too often, like their fellow network site Fleshbot (which I loved before they started updating every 5 damn minutes). I have the rss feed plugin for my google homepage though and check out stories I see on that. If I left dtoid for good I'd probably go to Shacknews, but as long as I try to avoid the community and just look at the articles dtoid is good enough to stick with for now.
