Hmmm... Maybe it's time I wrote an introduction, considering I am the original member of these forums. :
So yeah. Hi everyone! If it isn't plainly obvious, my name is Scott, but people generally call me Scotty or Scotty G (as my last name begins with a G). In case anybody is curious about the handle: I used ScottyG as a handle for a bit, but kept running into problems of other people having the same handle. When I was signing up for my XBL account I tried to think of a cool word that started with G, and picked Grayskull since... well... He Man is cool.
As for me, I've been gaming for a good 20 years. Started with the NES and SMB/Duck Hunt and SMB 2, then after countless games moved onto the SNES. Dabbled a bit in PC gaming with the Sierra Quest and Leisure Suit Larry games around that time, but never really got into it until DOOM came out. I played the absolute shit out of the shareware version (could beat it on Ultimate Violence just using my fists ^_^), and eventually picked up both Ultimate DOOM and DOOM 2. Had plenty of late nights as a kid playing on dial up with my friends. Pretty much skipped the N64/PSX generation, which is probably why I'm not blindly devoted to games from that time like some people are. There's no nostalgia value for me, and imo games have come since that have done it just as well if not better and didn't look like complete shit in the process. I stuck with PC gaming pretty much until I got a Gamecube in 2003-ish, and pretty much give equal time to both PC and consoles now.
As for types of games, I mostly like platformers and fps/tps games. I've tried to get into rpgs and strategy games, but for the most part just like my games nice and simple without too much micro-management. This is probably why I like more balls to the wall action fps games like Serious Sam, DOOM, or TF2 rather than 'thinking man' shooters like Deus Ex or the Rainbow Six games. Although I'm willing to give any game a go if it looks fun.
Aside from games... Hmmm... I assume that any of you who has seen enough of me on the forums, irc or game servers have figured out I'm pretty much just an oddball who has little shame. If I can bring the lolz, I likely will. Strangely enough this behaviour doesn't translate to the real world very well... Aside from games I do Taekwon Do, and while I don't follow any sport I'll gladly play just about any if given the chance. Used to draw quite well, but haven't really given that a go in years.
As for how I got to be involved with BRB, U... I played on Caff's TF2 server (now known as #1) shortly after he started it late last year, back when it was part of the Destructoid Friday Night Fights lineup. It started getting more and more into custom maps which Caff needed a place to host, so I offered up some of my hosted space. Shortly afterward he convinced me to install a forum on my server so the regulars could keep in touch outside of Destructoid, and thus these forums were born. At first it was just known as the "Unofficial Destructoid TF2 Forum" hosted at tf2.scottygrayskull.com, but as we started to grow requests for an official name grew as well. As many good ideas begin, we left it up to the masses to decide on a name. Thankfully they pulled through and www.brbuninstalling.com was unleashed onto the world (much <3 to Versus for the domain registration).
Ummmm... So yeah. That's-a-me!
