Very good point. Sorry guys, but I decided to bring this thread back on topic by deleting the pointless posts. Let the cool software suggestions recommence! Smile

I bring you MLAB, from the minds at Google: http://www.measurementlab.net/

There is a bunch of useful benchmark and tools geared for your network connection.
Take a look around.

If anyone has one of these, hook me up.
We had stuff like that when I was with Customs and Revenue, used for searching for both illicit files and for hidden tax files.
They didn't run live tho, they were either bootable CDs or host OSs.
http://getsongbird.com/  Another music player for those that are fans of incredibly open-source projects.
I know somewhere someplace someone mentioned trying to build themselves some rescue disks, software disks, etc etc. I don't remember who or where that was (though I think it was zane). Anyways, I saw this a few days ago and am currently giving it a whirl. It's kind of neat, and I rather fancy it so I thought I'd pass it along:

Portable apps are pretty sweet, I haven't looked into them that much but it would even be more awesome if they made these contain binaries for windows, linux and mac os x while still sharing all the settings. (Only when these apps have versions for that OS of course)

Print a form, write letters, scan it, and then you have a font made by your hand.

If you screwed with this, post it and let's see who has the worst handwriting.
