People have expressed interest, so I figured I'd try to make an event out of this.  Sunday is the only day that doesn't have a major event on it, so we'll play then.  We'll start at 8 P.M. EST.  If you do have the game good for you.  If you don't, well, send me a steam message.

MY GOD, THIS WILL BE SO EPIC!
I'm guessing this is with the Forged Alliance expansion?

No, for this week at least we're just using original.
Awesome.
I have the original, no expansion. Maybe i'll play next sunday.
OK, so I figured it out.  The game I used to play was Total Annihilation and this game is it's spiritual successor.  Does anyone know the differences?  I want to know if I should get in on it.  TA was too hard because you could build and put units in the upper atmosphere and under ground and I sucked at micromanaging all the levels.  Nothing was worse than having an army pop up from under the ground in the middle of your base.
As far as I know you can only build on land in SC. Also, are we using hamachi or GPGNet?

Hamachi, a largish number of people have less than completely legal copies.  Also, you can build certain some buildings on water, like ship factories and torpedo launchers.  Nothing complicated.

I've never played TA, but I've heard that Supreme Commander is basically a simpler more polished version

Here's a comparison I found.

Neonie

I can't even find it on Steam WTF.
Version 3280?
All I wanna know is if you can build the huge ass robots that take like 2 hours to get all the tech and like 20 min to build (each part had to be built separately) but once complete you could rape everything on the map.  I really hope so, as I was saying in IRC when I used to play TA at LAN parties due to my poor micro-managing skills of all 3 levels I was often seen as a non-threat in this game.  So one time when I was left alone I built two for the hell of it and I became an unstoppable agent of death.  It was fantastic.  But no one ever let me do it again.

Pretty much.

I may have tried that one too, when I was in HS we'd have regular LAN parties and stuff.  I was a big geek like that.

Please confirm what version we all are playing. I don't want to update to 3280 to find out we're all playing 3223.

that's the game you've been thinking about... TA didn't have different build levels, it was just a normal RTS with big robots and large armies and nukes that actually NUKED THINGS... massive range artiliery... walking kamakazi bombs... mmm

I've been playing skirmish mode and building fleets of the experimental gunships and just laying waste... or the t3 artillery and taking pot shots at the enemy commanders, amazing how often they manage to take one out.
Whatever the latest version is, we'll be using it.
