Beyond Good and Evil is on sale for $5.00 this weekend. I was wondering what the community thought of. Does it warrant a purchase?

edit: Decimals change things.
Yes.  I've had it for two consoles before, but almost want this just for framerate and resolution.  Though it'll probably look a little blurry on PC coz' it's an old console game textures anyways.

But yes, get it for $5.  Worth that for the soundtrack alone.

Is there a highres textures pack like Deus Ex and SS2?

For an already obscure game that came out primarily on console.  No, I don't think so.

Been in development for years but might put out a full release eventually.
srsly is it any good?
it's a lot of fun.  I would say that it's worth it.  I picked it up a couple months ago on steam.

I'm going to get it based on these two comments. All other comments on it are still appreciated as I would not mind hearing others opinions on it.
full of viruses.

Just kidding.

What's the gameplay like?  I hear it's good so I might get it.  Currently playing through Knytt Stories right now.
The gameplay is all over the place.  There's fairly simple Zelda-ish combat/puzzle dungeons, racing sequences, and stealth infiltration missions and a bit of Pokemon Snap throughout it all (my favourite part actually).  They all work more or less decently.  The art design and music and voice acting are all top notch too.
Damn I was hoping you meant half naked.

It doesn't like my dual core rig Sad I'll have to read the forums for it and figure out wtf I have to tweak. The cutscenes run at double speed but the sound is normal, and then when the gameplay starts half of the textures are just giant colored boxes. Suck.

Looks like it'd be a lot of fun, though, esp with a gamepad.

Also, +1 for the rule34 pic. Nice shooting, Wedge.

rumsfald

i recently rented the gc version on the wii. the character development and story were swell, as well as the very interesting environment/setting.

gameplay as wedge says is a grab-bag, some driving, some sneaking, some fighting. None are very fun, none are terrible, they are good enough to bear through and short enough that I didn't get too bored.

I played it through to the end and was happy I did.
I am spending my 5 dollars on Audiosurf.

Audiosurf's totally worth it. I got it just a few days after it was released. It's still just as awesome as it was the day I got it.

If you have an AMD core, do you have the dual processor optomizer thing?  That tends to fix issues with games from around that time.  (I dunno if there are issues/fixes like this with Intel stuff)

[/quote] I don't have any such thing, but I think got it sorted, it was a combination of graphics settings and not being compatible with a multi-core system. I've got a script that sets it to automatically only be on the first core, and now it runs fine. Still some odd visual effects at the top and bottom, but no flickering and the cutscenes sync up. Its a pretty fun game so far, I'm glad I dropped some dough on it.

Where can I snag the program you're talking about, though? It's probably a lot better than my hacked-together solution.
