I was looking forward to this game so much and upon finally getting the PC copy today, a little part of me has died. I waited an extra week for the PC version which is a shame. Yes I saved $10, but now I can't return this piece of crap because PC gamers are untrustworthy and therefor aren't allowed to return broken games. The first thing I noticed was the lackluster auto run. Just a little gray box with three buttons. A pretty clear sign that this was a simple port. The menus when you get in the game a pretty cool, but that's about it. The settings are pretty lame. There is an option between a 4:3 aspect ration and wide screen, but you can't select wide screen. So I proceeded to play with everything stretched out and looking even more like ass than it would have otherwise. The graphics are pretty lame and the fps creeps along during large explosions. There are also sequences when you take over a tank where you have to hit buttons in a certain sequence. Instead of displaying the key you should press, it displays a symbol that you have to guess at what key it is referring to. So far the story is pretty retarded, but I wasn't expecting it to be anything good. It always sucks when a game just doesn't work right, but when it's one you've been looking forward to, you just feel insulted by the developer. I hope they release a patch to fix some issues and make it a little more playable, but I don't have much faith in that happening.
Ouch, this is why I try not to get to excited about games.  I hate getting burned.  Seriously I think I'm becoming as cynical as Yahtzee.
I like the game.  There are occasional frame rate issues, and motorcycles handle like crap, but other than that it's quite fun.  I'd still rather be playing GTA4.

Yikes, sounds like control problems from the PC ports of FF7/8 sans the nice graphics and music boosts.

there you go.
forgot my [/sarcasm]
Well I got it for the 360 and it's alot of fun.  Sure it's not as good looking as GTA 4 and could've had had a better story to it, but their idea was to give you big action, plenty of explosions, and a bunch of vehicles and that is what they did.  The game is a ton of fun on Co-Op with a buddy.  To me it had more replay value than GTA 4.  Multiplayer for GTA 4 was boring and there wasn't a big reason to go about playing the game much at all after I beat the game.  With Mercs 2, you can blow up troops, annihilate skyscrapers, take jumping beefed up cars off jumps and hills, and use massive airstrikes to destroy anything and everything.

It's mindless fun to pass the time with.  Easily a rental, maybe a buy if you have a friend on the 360.
This is why you pirate games
I'm starting to consider pirating Spore, and pretending I bought it and pirated this.

I was going to but there was no PC iso. Only 360.
Awesome Easter Egg.  For one of the missions you have to protect a UP executive as he burns files, and he dies really easily.  After my fifth try I just shot him myself and found this.

I think you just proved what Mission said, that looks like ass.
that looks like mercs 1 graphics :\
I only have it on medium settings.  I get weird graphical errors when I put it on high.  People glow green, ground glows white, and the game crashes often.  With medium I only get the occasional crash.

I don't mean to sound redundant - but I think you just proved what Mission said.  Again.
