I just gave apple money to update my ipod touch to firmware 2.0. Its bricked. Thanks apple your a real help.
% chance of Negate EVER getting an apple computer 0.
You paid money to update firmware? I thought that stuff was supposed to be free? Regardless, you could probably get a replacement since Apple tends to really hate bad publicity. And if arguing with them at the store doesn't do anything, you could always submit your story to The Consumerist to get some help. That supposedly does the trick for anyone willing to go that route. Sucks about your ipod though.

[i]Maybe all these hard luck stories are what's causing everyone else's shit to break...
Why on earth did you buy an iPod touch?

I find shouting loudly in a busy store invariably does the trick.

This, my new thinking on apple is that it's 10x more of a bitch when something goes wrong because of how proprietary they are with their hardware but they have surprisingly good tech support.  Also they spend a shit load of money doing nothing but building up customer goodwill.  That's their main business strategy right now, so they won't want you bitching to consumerist, etc. and ruining their investment.

The iPod Touch and Zen Touch.

Both black sheep of the MP3 player market.
I have the first in the Zen Touch series it's kind of lame but has worked fine for the past few years.
I had a Zen Touch.

Keyword: had.
Well its fixed now. I went to the local apple store only waited about 10 minutes. The guy restores it from a macbook and says it should update fine now. So I come back and do that and it bricks again. So I call apple support we try some things it isn't fixed and I had to go to class. So he emails me some articles and surprisingly one of them worked. I reinstalled my USB drivers and now it works. So apples customer support was surprisingly good I got an actual American on the phone not one of those indians whose accent is so thick you could cut it with a knife. I can see why many people do like them.
nice 8)
Yea that's the only thing that kept me from going on a rampage when I found out the last laptop was a lemon.  And I'm talking about the old arcade game rampage.  I'd have been the giant monkey.
