OK I'm not one for pimping shit, especially shit I've got no interest in.  But we have been talking a lot about the right way to do things and classic PC games everyone should play and I just got in the beta for GOG.com and thought I'd share with you my experience.  See if it lives up to both standards.

The basic idea of the site is a digital distribution of PC classics on the cheap - $5.99 for most games.  The games are supposedly re-jiggered to run no problems on modern PCs.  Here is the games list.  If I buy one before the 21st I get 1 free from the interplay catalogue.  Which game do you think I should pick-up?  I'm pretty much decided to get MDK2 as my free game.

Fallout 1 & Fallout 2

or

Fallout 1 & Descent 1+2

Descent will make you vomit if you get motion sickness easily.
I got in as well.  Sadly I don't have money to spend on the modern games I want, so this takes a backseat for a while.
Looking at it further my excitement is kind of diminished.  There's 5-10 gems in there I know.  I really think $7 is a good price for many of these but I'm trying to figure out if I can settle for the graphics.  It's not so much being a whore I just remember a lot of motion sickness from these days.  Also I'm trying to think of which games withstand the test of time and which ones I'm looking back on with retro goggles.

My temptation list:
MDK2
The Fallout series
Freespace 2
Giants: Citizen Kubuko
Messiah
Sacrifice

Anyone have any comment on any of these games, I remember playing most of them except I never tried Messiah and my memories of the Fallout series are incredibly vague.
I just got an email with a beta key for this as well. Looking forward to trying it out.
Anyone play sacrifice originally?  I think I may still have the disk around somewhere.  I remember loving it but giving up because it was hard as balls.  For those that don't know you play a sorcerer type guy and you have to harvest souls and collect energy.  Its set up more or less like an RTS with your sorcerer as the commander.  The tricky part was you'd send your armies to clash and wipe each other out and then you could run over your souls to pick them up and make more units.  You could also perform some ritual to steal your opponents souls.  The problem was it took some time and all your opponent has to do is run over the soul to interrupt the process.  When you are fighting an equal opponent it really becomes a game of who can gain a soul advantage by stealing their souls but picking up yours before being stolen.  It could get very drawn out and tug of war like.
toca 3 yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.
Assuming it is possible would anyone be down for sacrifice online?
We have differing definitions of classic <.<

Also, am I the only one here who played Shogo?

Any good?
Ive played fallout, descent, and freespace off that list. All are defiantly worth it, if you have not played Fallout 1, you are a sad, sad gamer.

Descent 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ce2Si4EtmsM&NR=1
I remember descent being really hard.
Dont wanna hi-jack, but does anyone remember a racing game that came out about the same time, you had guns and you had to refuel and your cars were hovercrafts of differnt shapes, like a van or a car. i THNIK you had weapons.
I remember playing kingpin, that game was pretty insane.

meh, it performed well for the time.  the fact they couldn't get people to walk without sliding across the floor annoyed the hell out of me though.
How in the hell is a racing game from 2005 on there?  Also I don't understand why it's $7 instead of $5.  The extra $2 makes me not want to pay for any of these for some reason.

Also get the Redneck Rampage Collection, kekekekeke.
It's actually $6 I made a mistake, but some of the newer games are higher but no more than $10.  There is this RTS from 2004 called Perimeter for $10 that looks pretty good actually.
