Several of us are looking into to trying out GOG.com and it seems like a good time with our current game drought.  So I wanted to start a thread about any games we are tempted to play, are picking up and are playing.  Also to co-ordinate to play games with multiplayer (I'm pretty sure I remember Sacrifice having multiplayer).

So post any games you get here, your thoughts on how they have stood up to the test of time and how you are enjoying them for the 1st, 2nd, whatever time.  Also I want to play sacrifice with some people  ;D.
I want to add this isn't limited to the games off gog but could be anywhere, like steam had a big sale on ID's back catalogue.  I know this isn't that old but I started my second playthrough of HL2 recently and was happy to go through the scenes that made it so awesome the first time.  That game would be a must buy if it came out tomorrow.
one older PC game i remember was Interstate '76! anyone else play that?
I remember still getting subscriptions to PC gamer when most of these were advertised.
Being that there haven't been a lot of quality titles coming out lately, I've been playing some older games. X-com:UFO Defense (or Enemy Unknown depending on where you bought it) is one of the best turn based strategy games ever. I used to stay up all night at my friends house trying to rid the planet of the alien menace. I also remember playing Marathon 2: Durandal for hours on end, charging into rooms with BOB's and taking out hoards of aliens. Getting information about the story piece by piece from computer terminals scattered around. Of course the Fallout series, two of the best RPG's I've played.

Yes I do. You can play it, the Nitro Pack, and Interstate '88 if you have gametap. The game's controls don't really stand the test of time very well but it has one of my favorite intros ever.

Geoff after that post you are morally obligated to play at least one PC classic.

I believe so, the controls might be a bit too complicated to do so effectively though.
Sacrifice =D

I hope other people get it, multiplayer is intense.
I played MDK2 for a bit here are my thoughts.  It's really cool.  The humor is what I remembered and is pretty funny.  The graphics are surprisingly bearable.  No motion sickness.  Everything just looks really blocky.  Snipers will love this game.  Sniping is built in to the mechanics.  You have this weird helmet thing as part of your suit and well basically you can pop into and out of sniper mode super fast.  You get a wide range of neat items and sniper ammo types.  And there is a lot of fun platforming.

Cons:  The controls suck.  Its before WASD took over so it still has the arrow keys as default.  Default 2 is more along what you are used to but it still has some retarded controls.  For instance right click is jump and space is sniper mode.  So you are going to want to swap that right away.  Here's where it really gets frustrating.  I couldn't figure out how to clear control settings.  You set a new key and it just puts it behind the other one (2 max).  Not only that but it allows multiple actions to be assigned to the same key.  Maybe they thought you might want a key for run/jump/snipe/shoot?  Anyways what I did was designate a throw a throw away key.  I set all the keys I wanted to change to the throw away key then the keys I wanted.  The other big problem was it was before auto-save.  Wish I would have known that!  Oh well only lost 15 minutes of playing, but I have to go through the tutorial again unfortunately.
Played Sacrifice.  I remember why I liked it so much.  It is a very clever and well written strategy game.  You play a wizard.  You have to build structures and stuff to help you with your mana and summon manawhores to transport the mana from them to you.  You also summon different creatures to fight for you.  Then you get spells.  There is a lot going on.  Your army is limited by the amount of souls you have.  When one of your troops dies you just pick up its soul and conjure a new one.  You can also do a spell that converts fallen enemies into souls for you to use.  The graphics are pretty decent.  The game play is pretty interesting, if it came out today it would probably be called innovative.

You choose 1 of 5 gods to work for.  2 are evil, 2 are good and 1 is really wierd.  He's in between.  Each god has different units and different spells.  When you start out you can work for all of them.  As you progress you make enemies of them one by one until you can only work for one.
