So I think I have explained before how the United States Postal Service in a bad spot.  It lost 6 billion dollars last year and it doesn't seem to be recovering.  E-mails, FedEx/UPS/DHL, lazy wokers, and so forth and making away business from the USPS and the whole gas crisis hasn't helped either.

So a meeting was held the other day talking about layoffs.  Of course management is too professional to say who or when but obviously the first people to go are the Temps before they start actually firing real mail carriers.  So I would say in about 7 or 8 months I will probably be laid off.

Only bright side to this is I will have my college degree by this time and I will be eligable to leech of taxpayers like you with unemployment.  But still, for $20 an hour this was a nice job to have while going to school and (until now) the USPS was a pretty nice place to be employed and move up the ladder.  Hell I could have been a Postal Inspector making 6 figures if I played my cards right.

But now it looks like I am going to have to dust off the old resume and update it.  Unless all of you start sending out more letters.  Say, maybe, 10 letters a day?  That should possibly save my job.  Oh and maybe add a package or 2 and maybe some express mail to that Big Grin
oh noes

USPS was one of the better places to get things shipped from the states to canada as they had no/next to little brokerage fees as canada post handles them on this side of the border Sad

hope things turn out!
i tried to ship a Poster via USPS, form the US to Chile,  but the service was so lame, it was like

"what do you want to send?"
- A Poster ma'am
"ok, is it porn?"
- uh, no
"Yah, i know it isn't porn, but does it pictures a woman?"
-uhm, yes, there is a woman on there
"Oh, sorry, we can't ship porn"
- No, you don't understand me, this is poster is a drawing
"ooh, so it's THAT kind of porn"
- No, this isn't porn, now ship the poster if you mind?
"Ok, give me your name, last name, Adress, Zip Code, mother's name, father's name, RUT, dog's name, where do you work, blabbery blabbery blabbery
- *click*

FedEx was way faster 9_9, and here i have, in 2 days mi beloved porn poster
Meh, when I worked for american FedEx customer service, the requirements for shipping to or from some countries were retarded.

Some countries you aren't even allowed to send ANYthing except for paper. That's it. Paper ONLY.

Porn is also a common restriction; but usually they're looking for illegal child porn stuff.
If I can get something USPS I always choose that option...FedEx and UPS take forever and half the time if I'm not there to sign the damn thing they won't leave it.  USPS always respects mah wishes and they're cheaper.

No I think she just wants my penis.  I was just impressed that it was mostly spelled correctly.  Which is better than the previous message she left me.

I wish I could help, but my local post office has made me hate USPS. Aside from being one of the most depressing places in the world, the employees there are lazy as shit and probably want to kill themselves from being there all day. They will sometimes leave packages at my door, and sometimes I'll have to go down to the hellhole of a post office because the guy didn't feel like taking the elevator or some shit. I have no clue. Granted, I hate UPS more, but my USPS post office is a close second.
USPS is the only affordable way to send small stuff really cheap, so I appreciate them for that.  It's not like anybody sends anything over mail but bills, advertisements, and packages anymore though, and for anything more than $5 or so, it's a better deal to use something else most of the time.

rumsfald

I just sent out an e-mail to everyone I know asking them to help you out, Tragic.

Oops!
I've been ordering a bunch of crap online and sending out college apps if that helps.  :-\

Yea small stuff is always cheaper with the USPS, but when you get larger items they refuse to carry it. I had to ship an Ebay purchase that was a laser printer from my old work and it was like 100 lb from Chicago to Seattle, the USPS said it was 'too big'. UPS didn't care.

That has to be an odd post office (or its filled with old people).  I've had to deliver plenty of 100lb items to customers before.  Plus nice thing about USPS is you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for saturday delivery like you would with UPS/FedEx/DHL.
Saturday delivery with FedEx is/was an extra $12.50 I believe.

Even after YEARS of not doing that job..... I still can't stop. I took over 20,000 calls, probably about double that by the time I quit, in less than two years.

Stop living in Chile, dumb Chilean.

^_^

Poor Tragic. Then again, it probably wouldn't directly benefit you unless you I lived where you live. And fuck DHL, royally. I'll be goddamned if I ever ship anything with them again. Any company with over a 5% loss rate that doesn't inform customers and doesn't make an effort to reimburse is a fucking dinosaur in the world of modern shipping. Who's going to ship with a lazy cunt when you could have a... customer-friendly and reliable cunt?
