So, keeping a steady flow of content on a new website when you've only got two writers and a day job turns out to be quite difficult Wink

Anyway, with this glut of big titles coming out, I'm looking for people interested in writing reviews of some of the recent releases.

Here are the review policies I've set out for Spectacle Rock, so make sure to check those out first to see if you are comfortable with the style I'm shooting for.

I'll be doing reviews for Fallout 3 and Mother 3 as soon as I'm finished with them, but the main titles I'm looking for people to cover...

Fable 2
Gears of War 2
Mirror's Edge
Banjo Kazooie
Left 4 Dead (when it comes out...)

Or, if you've got thoughts on any of the other pile of games coming out, let me know!  So, if you've always wanted to be the headliner on an up-and-coming site obviously destined for great things, now's your chance!
I'm probably an atrocious writer, and a terrible descriptionist. I may be able to help with some PC games, but other than that I'm bit useless. I play a lot of mod's, so perhaps I can put a mod review up every once in a while?

But I'll gladly help out with other things you may need help with. Perhaps DS games? Maybe Wii? For god's sake, I could even do a retro review or something. I'm a fan of the virtual console, after all.

Edit: I agree with the "scoring system" statement. I don't really understand why people need to catagorize games into these ratings. Why can't it just be, "I highly recommend this game because I had fun."?
I'd be up for reviewing Left 4 Dead, if you would like. Smile Valkyrie Chronicles too, but by the time I get it and beat it, it may no longer be poignant.
ill write something, you probably wont end up using it tho Smile
I went to school for journalism.  I could do Fable 2.  I might be able to do L4D if I win a copy.  Same with Mirror's Edge.

Well, like I said in the review policies, I think it's better to review a game after you've spent some time with it rather than trying to rush it out the door as quick as possible, so my window of poignancy is pretty large Wink

Sweet.  That would be excellent!

and to dave and Karth, just try your hand at whatever you want, and we'll see if we can't give it some polish.  That's what editors are for!

OK I'm not done with it though...I been taking my time.
I am probably not good enough as a writer, but I can translate your site in french!

Double the languages, double the viewers!

I'm up for whatever. VC, Mods, older games, DS, Wii. Just gimme something to try out and I'll see what I can do.

*best case scenario: I buy the game and spend a week playing, then review*
*Worst case: I rent the game(Not rich you know) and have to send back early, then review*

You'd have to sift though a lot of my bitching and griping about the game though.
I could write a bunch about Far Cry 2, but I'm afraid it wouldn't be fair, as I could only get so far in the game before uninstalling due to it sucking so much.  Though I'm fairly certain playing the game for an hour or two gives you a pretty solid idea of what the other 40 are like ~.~

There are plenty of parts that are rather enjoyable, it's the bits in between missions that aren't so fun.  Like driving around and fighting through 50 billion checkpoints every single goddamn time.

As far as I could tell, the missions are pretty much the same garbage you get driving around the map, but with a few more enemies.  The level design (or total lackthereof) sort of makes the combat abysmally boring anyways.  Though they're pretty much unrelated other than in name, the original Far Cry was a vastly superior outdoor shooter.
I'm a competent writer, but I'm lazy as all get out.  And I don't actually think I could review anything on that list.
I'd have been glad to do a Fallout 3 review, as somebody who only recently played the originals, but I really don't have money for any other games this season. At least not until I get my stipend.

I'm actually a passable writer sometimes, too.

Actually, it might be interesting to get the perspective of a "new" Fallout player on 3 as well.  I'm in Caff's boat as an old-timey Fallout fan, so that is inevitably going to color my final review.
