By the Gods...this is a Grey-esque thread.

When I posted that pic of Burgess Meredith in the other thread, I was reminded of how much I loved that character. I honestly think he made that movie, you could have replaced Harry Hamlin with Hassellhoff and Burgess still would have made it great. Thus, this thread is for all the other awesome small or bit-performances that made a great movie or performance.

So, I'll kick this off with another favorite bit part. Cabbie, played by Ernest Borgnine in Escape from New York.

Hold on, Snake. The Tank is coming.

Fuck, I still cry when Cabbie dies on the bridge.

Post your favorite bit-characters. Please limit yourself to 2 per post so that folks you don't hit refresh every 5 minutes have a chance to chime in. I've got another one (Budr should know who, but I'm showing restraint and you should too).

Also amazing, although I'm not sure where the line is drawn for a bit-part. I could have named any small character from that film to be honest. M. Emmett Walsh is always great, even Tyrell's I'm-quite-clearly-reading-my-lines-off-a-cue-card style has a certain charm to it. That said, I always cite Gaff as the greatest ever minor character just because it astounds me how his insanely minimal presence has such a massive effect. Simlish aside, he's got maybe two or three lines in the back and forth with Deckard on the roof at the end and that's it. And yet, he somehow comes out as this hugely memorable character who manages to bind the film together.
I was a fan of the driver in snatch.  I can't think of any others right now.

Oh wait I got a great one.  The "Your mother's a whore" guy in Welcome to Collinwood.  (fucking hilarious movie)
The Annie Potts character in Ghostbusters.
