Faggot isn't an offensive word if its used non-offensively. People get too caught up in the word itself, and not the meaning behind the word.
Also, if someone is willing to call me a chink and swear a lot, wouldn't it seem logical to accept faggot? It hardly seems right to single that out, but accept everything else.

In modern English faggot is most commonly used as an anti-gay slur. This doesn't mean that everyone who uses the word hates gays. But you should expect people to think that's how you're using it, if they don't know you very well. That's just how it is most often used.
Obviously, you can say faggot and not mean it as a slur. But I would avoid it unless you're sure people know what you mean, or you don't care what they think of you. As St. Paul said, "All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient."

Lulululul fags. I get to use that liek I'm blackity black rite? Yeah I don't really give a shit about "words" and believe everything would work better if no one was offended by any word alone and could live using the vast array of other abilities we have to infer human communication. Of course the internet loses a lot of those senses, but it's developing it's own means of communication "non-verbal" (even if most of it is still technically "words") communication over time as well.
Also when I saw the title I thought it was art school for furries.
Words have different meanings to different people. Faggot can also mean firewood or cigarette. Queer can also mean unusual. Gay used to be used quite frequently to mean happy. Short story is I think you were right in your logic but wrong in your handling. Unfortunately you have to realize your words can take on unintentional meanings and unintentionally upset people. That's my opinion on it.
Also funny story on the subject. My grandma who can be a bit out of it called me "pussy" as a pet name and almost snapped my mind in half. It took a while for me to realize that she was shortening the endearing term pussy cat which was also way way out of fashion. Thankfully my dad was around and explained to her aside that the word has much different meanings than she thought. Personally I couldn't react. I was so shocked I didn't know whether to laugh, feel ambarassed, horrified or insulted.
