Copied off of digg, EA, please burn in hell

"You've gone up in level, in order to advance please deposit $2.99"
Yeah, Fuck EA.  I noticed last night that they released a bunch of DLC for deadspace right after it shipped but it's all "pay 3 bucks to have your suit look different, and your gun does a little more damage".

Yeah, okay, before we would get these things for completing 100% or something like that.

Achievement points and DLC has ruined the "work extra hard for extra content", now we work hard just for the benefit of seeing achievement points pop-up on the bottom of the screen and pay for the extra content.

This is like paying for a refill of coffee, i wont stand for it.
Wat?  Sounds better than a monthly fee, because I'll never pay one of those.  It'll probably be stupid crap you don't really need to play the game anyways, if it's anything like all the Korean games that use that model.
oh cool, itl be full of runescape players then

awesome.

They're still gonna charge for the base game and you won't be able to play it on a library computer, so uh, no.

No I think its completely the wrong model, with a monthly fee everyone is equal, no one is better than anyone else. This isn't like the quasi mmo battlefield, this is an MMORPG. While I'm not sure how things like Guild Wars work, whether they are microtransactions or in-game advertisements (if my memory serves me correctly it is the latter), ifs its all just cosmetic stuff they are going to gut the ever loving fuck out of the rest of the game content and probably make it fairly generic.

If they make the microtransactions for levels/equipment that leads to a division in the player base ala Hellgate London and eventual shut down.

Either way it makes for a shitty game.

Runescape doesn't use microtransactions.

gw got it spot on, you pay once for the game, once for each expansion, and you can buy things like extra char slots, and pvp only accounts

was the fucking shit, dominated some ass in that game.

Ick, GW was so limited though.  Few classes initially and few skills within those classes.  I would gladly pay a monthly fee for a more robust experience than a free MMO experience where whatever class I play is nearly identical to someone elses character.

shut your face, you have 12^12 class choices and about 70 skills for each of thoose 12 classes that you have to put in cmall choices of 8 to use in any hostile zone, your an idiot, tragic and you hurt my feelings, now be offended while i do the math about how many god damn possable skillsets you can have on one char!

also, 4 WELL THAUGHT OUT storylines to play through, shitty wow quests that noone plays CUASE YOU DONT HAVE TO, grinding isnt even a word in gw, missions <3, Mass pvp (AB) decent structred pvp league (Guild system) quick pvp for shits n giggles, (RA) 4man pvp for shits, giggles, and glad points (TA) customisable armor (runes, inscript, dye, different sets) level playing field (pvp chars available at the start) original and unique classes (dervish, paragon, rit, mesmer) actualy working title renown system, (got my some fine virtual ass for r3 people know me.) and the ability to become a fucking god if you can get a decent 4 man team together (will find youtube link of me and 3 mates taking on 16 respawning people on our own)

So this means we will not be exchanging Christmas gifts this year?
What a bunch of arse.  Had this one on my list of MMOs to monitor as potentially decent.

Gunbound is still awesome, FU.  And you can just play on the No Equipment Effect servers.
This is a horrible idea, for one good reason. It's an MMORPG, meaning when EA wants a bit more cash OOPS here comes an update with a slightly better gun, making yours obsolete. Perfect.
I just want KOTOR 3...

heh, exactly Smile I was a late adopter, so I can't say anything about release dates, but they seemed pretty PC gauged to me, or at least I couldn't imagine playing them with a controller.
Yeah umm, plenty of other MMO's only offer largely aesthetic bonuses and shit like timed XP% increasers in cash shops, and honestly no one has seen what a US developer would do with such a model right now.  But w/ever, be a fag and dis something based on some retarded Kotaku post.  I mean, I wrote the thing off already simply on the basis of it being an MMO, and those are unilaterally shit outside of something like PS.  But I'd love to see some kind of alternating pricing models come along in the case someone ever does make an MMO worth playing again.
