I love Steam weekend deals..they make me happy.

Buy it buy it buy it.  This is like Fallout 3 if it was an original IP and much more FPSy.  An amazing game with an amazing story.

Is it more FPS or more Story?


I'd like a few more opinions before I waste 5 bucks. (yes, I know I'm being a penny pincher, I'm saving up for presents)

It has more of both than Fallout 3.

Tried playing it twice, ran into game breaking buginess both times.  Don't know how much of it was because of the overhaul mod I was running, but it makes the game look and play a lot better than the stock game, so I don't wanna not use it.

Can you mod game you play through steam? I dunno why, but I was always under the impression that you couldn't.

Um, I don't see why not.  Did you think there was something magical about Steam versions?  At most they might have a weird bit of DRM authentication, but generally they aren't much changed from non-Steam versions when they aren't Valve games.  If there was an issue, it'd be the exception, not the norm.

Be absolutely sure you have all the patches.  And don't get discouraged by the beginning, it's easily the weakest part of the game.

Its rather good,
Graphics are not bad,
Lotsa FPS for a RPG,
Worth 5 Dollars

As far as single player FPS games go, I've spent more time in Stalker than any other. Fucking great game. The atmosphere is awesome. Oh, be sure to grab Float32 mod to fix some of the shitty/non-existant optimization in Stalker.

Download the one that doesn't say "for Clear Sky" to make Stalker run well. You HAVE to have it on dynamic lighting to see performance increase. Though, if you don't have the dynamic lighting on you are playing Stalker wrong anyway.

i enjoyed my time playing it though ,even at the beginnign suckness

I pirated this once and it ran horribly on my old card, I think I'll pick this up, $5 sounds like a steal (pun intended)

It improves game performance without sacrificing looks. It seems since the developers didn't want to take the time to optimize the game some people just did it for them. Works quite well.
