In the spirit of the production cycle this game has taken, I thought now was as good a time as any to make this topic.

So for anyone who doesn't know or totally forgot/moved on, Duke Nukem Forever is still in production.  From what I've read "they" are seriously thinking it will come out some time in 2009, but the official release date is "when it's done."  There is also some scant gameplay footage that came out this summer.

Even though I've never played any of the Duke Nukem's, I will most likely get this game just because of the near mythos that has been created around it.  So what about you guys?  Anyone stood by this game since it was first announced, or has everyone given up?

Never played the Duke Nukem's? :'(

I've played most of the games. Only the shareware of the first, but I have 2, 3D Atomic Edition and Manhattan Project kicking around somewhere.

I'm still holding out some hope that DNF will be released, and might actually be good. Sad thing is that I'm pretty sure they could've released this back in 01/02 and it would've been absolutely amazing.
hehehe duke nukem 1 was one of my first games... love those floppy disks Smile
It'll never be as good as it has to live up to.  I predict a lot of disappointed fans.

Start at the bottom and read upwards.

I particularly like March 25, 1998 "When It's Done"
when i was little, when my dad bought our first computer, he also bought the "Super ID Software pack" or something like that, that contained Doom, Duke Nukem and Commander Keen. the box was so big, it was like 3 cigarrettes put together

Also, i still remember when i first heard about this game back then, i had played Duke Nukem 64 and said "this game will suck as much as 64 did" and don't tell me i'm wrong. DN64 is a shitty port
Man this is a good list....FROM 1998

Roffles. I bought that very magazine earlier this year at a goodwill. Reading the article back then would definitely get someone excited about the game. Now it's just good for a laugh at how stupid the situation has gotten. Smile
I wish it was still on the UT99 engine.  Games made on that were awesome.
For the thread, here's a couple of the newer pictures that came out this year.

Fan's expectations rise exponentially the longer it takes for a game to come out.

So unless this game gives you a blowjob and prints money, it's going to make people sad.

[/quote]Release it on the DSi. problem solved.
Looks like Duke Nukem Forever might be renamed "Duke Nukem Never-Ever".

It's not been officially stated from 3D Realms, but according to the update on Shacknews...

"Deep Silver and Apogee Software are not affected by the situation at 3D Realms," a representative for the companies has told us. "Development on the Duke Nukem Trilogy (DS, PSP) is continuing as planned."

A shame.  Would've been something to see them to actually have released the game.  Maybe it'll be sold off to another developer to actually finish or redo if this is true of them shutting down.
Now it's double never coming out. ): The 2001 trailer for this was so kick ass.
Actually this is probably the only thing that WILL let it come out, as someone can buy the IP and actually make the game if they want now.

I'm hoping so.  It's a worthwhile game to go, so I'm sure someone would be interested in taking it over and to be the company that finally released Duke Nukem Never-Ever-Forever-Never.
