So, what are your thoughts? I talked with several people about it, and it sounds like there's definitely some interest. Would you like to see no crits server, and would you play on it?

Crits add that extra little element of luck that makes the game exciting.  I'd rather leave crits on for pub play.

While I'm not going to doubt that crits make all the difference in 1v1 play, I don't believe they really affect a match as a whole.

I like the bit of randomness they provide. It's infuriating to get hit by them, but not enough to warrant getting rid of them.

I voted no, but I would still play on any server that had brb.u on it because I <3 you guys  ;D

Yeah I like how crits keep you on your toes. I see no reason to get rid of them in regular play. That extra bit of randomness helps keep things interesting imho.

depends if we want more defensive oriented play. Sentries will get a big boost without crits. Because the general lack of coordination or semblance of teamplay during pubtime, having one crit rockets or stickey in a clip is that extra little bit needed for a single soldier or demo to take out a level 3 sentry while it is being repaired by an engie with dispenser. I'm not saying that is good or bad, but I bet we might get a little turtlehead pokin out if we go no crits.



I think it would be excellent for pickup games though.

It will delist the server, so good luck getting people into it, the only soucemod plugin that clears sv_tags eats CPU like nobody's business and will crash a full server due to leaks every 3 - 5 hours.

Crits are a reward system, for most classes. People only bitch when they're random and unfair, which is about 25% of the time.

People who aren't part of the server would just use backburner.

during the matches i barely even noticed crits were off. so, with that in mind, i would be down for it :-* :-*

Make #2 BRBuJ server instead, and throw in cp_japan + bessjump into rotation.

I voted no, I like the unpredictability of crits...

For pubs, crits = good.  I'd say we only need to disable crits for matches.

I would really like a crit free server, it brings a persons skill into play rather than luck.

I guess I've changed my mind, crits are a bit of a leveller a la any Nintendo game.  Plus they can break up a stalemate.  Also I still need my reflect crit rocket achievement!

Woah now, crits don't break the game nearly as bad as the "levelers" in Nintendo games. Crits aren't unavoidable attacks that hit the entire opposing team regardless of where they are on the map.

Fuck that.  Crits are fun, add an element of randomness, and don't change it enough to change the outcome of a match.  Don't do it.
