going snowboarding for the first time tomorrow... mounted my bindings yesterday and my question is this, i was told to angle the front binding about 15-25 degrees.  Is that normal?

Pro tip: Fences aren't your friend.

Broke my leg the first time i snowboared because i trusted a fence a little too much, it was elevated so i though i could be cool and crouch to pass it. That fucking fence betrayed me

Yea if I remember correctly.  For one I think it helps you face forward better.  There are other reasons I'm sure, once you get on the board you'll probably feel why its angled.

Also it takes a normal person 3 days to learn the snowboard.  First day you will wish you have an ass protector.  Second day it won't be as bad.  Third day or the day after you will be riding trails fairly decent.  Just remember to always hold an edge, if you don't your board will try and find one and it will wobble like crazy.  Not fun at high speeds.  (holding an edge means putting some weight on one side, you don't necessarily have to be turning but your weight should favor one side)
<3 my snowboarding

if its your first time you probably wont be going down leg first

youll spend a while sliding down on your side so you can learn to steer and stop.

Fuck... I was very tempted to take a sick day for work. Snowed last night and it's perfect for skiing right now.
mm I havent skiied at all this year =\  I used to be quite an avid x-country skier.  tried snowboarding a few times... TOTALLY agree with surf there... 1st day i really wish I had a pillow for my ass! But it came pretty easy as I knew how to ski already (and I wakeboard... so I guess that helped haha).

So where did you ski? (assuming you read this after you've gone)

Well, I acutally had to take a sick day earlier in the week so I didn't go. :S

I do x-country as well. There's several spots around town if I want trails, some of which are quite good.

There are more trails at the military base (CFB Gagetown) nearby and near the downhill trails (Crabbe Mountain) as well, but they're a longer drive away. Plus they're longer trails (like 20km+), and I'm not that good/in shape yet. Wink
dave lives near a dryslope : )

has its own minislope and ramp for snowboarding, you get pussies doing jumps on skis there sometimes too.
