Posting this up for the purposes of looking into scheduling other things, please go into a bit more detail about what you vote on and why. If you think we add another PC game, what night should we devote to it, what game should it be, ect.
I'm refraining from naming a specific game because I think we can discuss what people might be interested in and if people really like something and start organizing things people who don't have the game might buy it. In my experience so far in setting up PS Saturdays its been tough to get people to come out, but over time people have become more interested and tried it, some even ended up buying it.
Here's my general thoughts:
HL1/2 Mods - Done a longer timescale, such as 1 a month to put less pressure on an admin to keep changing it:
Pros:
- Easy to set up, I have access to the UMLan mod server
- Easily accessible to most everyone currently in BrB
Cons:
- Can have problems setting up and running them
- Recruitment potential depends on the mod
Machinema (TF2 or other games)
Pros:
- Large recruitment potential if you make something funny
- Could be enjoyable to participate in
- We all tend to enjoy the final product
Cons:
- Have to lock down a server or make a new one
- Sometimes getting people to do stuff properly is like herding cats
- Puts a lot of work on one or two people to do editing and posting of end result
Another PC Game
Pros:
- Fresh & new for participants
- New members with no TF2 background
Cons:
- Costs money to set up a server, won't get any people coming in without one
- Selection
- Some may not own the game
Another Console Game
Pros:
- Very easy to set up
- Helps more with internal stuff and keeping people interested and engaged
Cons:
- Not getting anyone new this way
- Don't own said console, can't participate
- May not own the game
Personally I'd like to see more mods, as I can set them up very easily, maybe have a mod of the month sort of thing instead of trying to get something running every week, which was really stressful. In fact, I'm going to go set something up right now, because I can
Please also keep in mind the mod box can also run other non-hl2 mod dedicated servers as well
