I would just reply to the thread, but i feel like this deserves its own thread.

Would a fourth, password protected server be a bad idea?
I'd be willing to help the hosting if we did that. I'm just trying to gather opinions on this.
There are alot of twats on the servers now, and I feel like we need a safe haven for the community's insiders.
I'm not saying that we should make a special kid server and only hand out the password to favorites, but we could put some sort of system in place where we could figure out, based on community activity and respect, who gets passwords. Everyone that was in the original dtoid server that is now in this community would get a password right off the bat, but hey let's hear your opinions. I personally feel that a fourth passworded server is a good idea.

Go.
Not reaaaally. That is like giving up. ARE YOU A QUITTER? CAUSE I SURE AM NOT A QUITTER.
No, we really dont need another server, look right now, neither server is full, when we start having #1 and #2 full 66% of the time, maybe we could consider it...
If there are problems, an admin can fix them.  That is all.

At this point, if someone wants another server, it should be a different game.
If you aren't having fun on 2 because of assholes, contact a admin or go to 1 or 3. Preferably the former as admins aren't omnipotent and can't be everywhere at once and the best way to solve this "problem" is to do something about it instead of avoiding it. So if you do notice some assholes, don't just sit there and take it, contact someone. Also having a server that only XXX people in the community get access to is elitism anyway you look at it and shouldn't be allowed here. Stuff like that is the quickest way to break up a community.
So just another half-baked idea?
Its a decent Idea, but that's what FNF and TFT is for.  When you give it that extra thought though it is like giving up, then all the regs will wanna play on the locked server and give up the others to banditry.  Ideally we should just start cracking down harder and if needed I'm sure the powers that be will create more admins.

WRONG

for i am DAVE!

and have admin on 2 and 3.

rumsfald

1) We've attracted a lot of good, funny, and talented people through the open servers. The community keeps growing.

2) If we had a locked server, I fear that if 3-4 regs were in that, it would fill up with regs and no-one would seed the others. Once that happens, you stop attracting new people.

HPH, I think your intentions are in the right place, but for me #1 way outweighs #2.

Having griefers is a sign of success. Griefers don't hang out in empty servers. It takes a slightly different skill set to maintain a server/community than to build one. Caff/Kor/Ain/Duck/Scotty and all the admins have done a great job at building a community, but as other's have said, it's time to take action on the asshattery to keep what you all have built. That means:

Admins: don't be timid. You're entrusted with special power, use it.  If you cross the line, I'm sure you'll get a talking too before Caff gives you the donkey-punch.

Regulars: don't put up with BS.  If someone is being an asshat, call an admin.  If you are gettting rolled fair and square, then call in other regulars to defend the home turf. If we get a reputation for defending against organized pubs, then I guarantee we will get more competitive and serious players during pubtime.

i hate having the team stacked against me and a group of fuck ass pubs by brb.u members just cause im man enough to help out the weaker side

it make me want to stab a dog

so fucking pissed off.

Pretty much sums up what I get stuck with half the time these days ;_;.
baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad idea.

Regulars will just fill that up and leave #1 and #2 empty.
I am too lazy to quote Rummy, but all he said was right.

I can also understand the "griefers" and asshats as I used to be one. I usually got a lot of fun by building useless teleporters and healing/ubering spies... it's just a way of having fun.

Only solution is the ban hammer... I have been banned from about 10 servers out there, and they got rid of my asshateries.

Finally, I don't do that anymore... well not on BRB!U servers...
Well... not as often....

Aside from being mortal enemies, I have huge respect for Dave for being one of the only people I regularly see switch to the losing side instead of repeatedly steamrolling.

I do it, just not regularly.  Maybe I need some more fiber.
I simply always choose random.

Yea but sometimes the teams will get stacked even then, if you are good and they are too stacked you should try to switch to make it more fun.

Rarely. I would wager that if we implemented a forced random team selection the instances of skill stacking would drop to almost nothing. In fact, I suggested it some months ago and I can still see no downside to it.
